Loving the responses, guys! I gotta say, there are some pretty creative ways to describe your PV as well as some...well, questionable ones.

All in all, it seems like the general term of e-cig(arette) is what people recognize. That's a shame because this term puts the negative connotation of "cigarette" in the name. So good job to those that actually take the time to explain it as something else! Though I don't blame those of you that would just say it's an e-cig so there's no more questions.

If only the world were more informed, they would fail to be so naive.

I tell people it is an e-cig, because they wouldn't have a clue what an APV is. Then I tell them that it is what got me off of cigarettes, and the reason that it is larger than what they see in the convenience stores is because this works and those don't.

If they are interested, I tell them why it is better, and about flavors, what they are made of, and why it is important to have flavors that taste good.

If they still have questions, then I get into choices of equipment etc.

When ask I tell people it is a vaporizer or E cig. Both are usually used in the description .Most responses/inquiry's have been positive and I go on to explain how it works and how they can become a vapor if they are interested. I have got the "Can anything else be used in it ?" question as well but not until recently . I usually carry mine in my shirt pocket and recently I got a lil eGo 400mAh Mini Battery which is about the same size as my tanks to make it easier to carry around on short trips/outings . I still get ask cause I usually pull it out and vape not really thinking about it ... I do try to be discrete somewhat , not to hide necessarily more to be respectful .
Thank you for the contest .

I definitely use the word E-cig, but I really try to emphasize the differences between a cigalike and a mod type device or even an ego. Many of these conversations start out because of the other person's curiosity, so they are usually inclined to listen to my little spiel on the advantages etc... If nothing else, I can usually get out the basics: the device basically has a wick that is soaked in the liquid which gets vaporized and breathed in - and that it contains only pg/vg, nic and flavoring. I don't think I have had a negative reaction yet.

I've only been asked a couple of times. I'm usually pretty discreet. I told them it was what got me off cigarettes. That it was weaning me off the nicotine, without all the other "bad" things contained in cigarettes.

I have an eGo Twist set up (3 different atties to chose from) and an eRoll. Out in public (not in vehicle) I'm usually using the eRoll. So it's easy to be discreet.

Ding, I LOVE your approach.........I will probably start using "freedom" as my go-to opening...........I'll give you credit here in writing instead of verbally every time I use your line...........if that's OK with you. :)

I call it "The Crack Pipe".

Everyone laughs at that and tell me not to call it that. But im always looking for it and i cant get enough. Im an addict.

That's certainly not the first time I've heard that, believe it or not! I had a stainless steel eGo V V2 Mega and even one our customers that came inside for a local pickup made the comment that it looked like a crack pipe! I've also had a former cop mention that it looked like one - so I would be careful calling it that, if I were you. ;) Maybe that had a bit of influence on me when I decided to switch to an MVP 2.

*On another note: I don't want to upset the moderators here on ECF, so although these devices may look like they are used for other purposes by the general public; let's please try to keep the mention of such illegal activities out of our discussion. Thanks!

I tell them its an advance personal vaporizer commonly known as an e-cig but explain that I dont call it thst because of the negative connotation. More often then not I get asked if its for the illegal stuff. I end up going in to detail about how it works and what the ejuices are made of and what not, but all depends on what they ask.

When people ask, and most people know what it is, but when they do, I tell them it's my savior. Usually the "HUH?" look follows and then I tell them what it is and how I have not touched a stinky since I picked one of these up. The real looks come when I oull out my case which looks like a set of works. I have a dozen ce3xl tanks filled with different flavors and a couple rubber tips if anyone should wish to try one and I always make sure I ask them if they are allergic to nicotine. I can recall only once that someone gave me a hard time about not really quitting and how I'm wasting my money. Meh, you can't please all of the people all the time.

Most people just ask, "you've got one of those electronic cigarettes?"

I reply with, "It isn't really like cigarette. It is more like a tasty fog machine. I get all of the flavor of my favorite cigars with less chemical mess. It's like standing close to the stage at a rock concert. Only everything I use is food grade and considered reasonably safe for consumption." Usually they will say something about needing to try one. Then I say something like, "yeah it's a great feeling knowing I'll live to see my kid graduate college."

You know what amazes me? The fact that there are so many people here on ECF that have e-cigs to thank for quitting analogs (myself included) - but yet, nobody can legally make that claim! Maybe it's just my imagination, but it seems to me like e-cigs are more effective than nicotine patches, gum, and just about any other form of nicotine replacement. So it makes me happy when I see so many people explaining that an e-cig is what got them off the cancer sticks. We might not be able to advertise e-cigs as such, but we still have the freedom to tell people what we think about them.

All in all, some really great responses here! I hope you guys don't mind, but I might "borrow" some of these for the next time somebody asks me what I have.

Keep those responses coming! I can't wait to see what creative explanations you guys have come up with!

I have only had one person ask me about it...I changed out to a brand new cartomizer(a Phoenix filled with tobacco 18 mg) & allowed them to try it. They had so many questions and the best thing I could do was send them to the B & M to sample all of the flavors they had. I don't know if they ever went, but they were very happy with my set up....
