    Somewhere between here and there
Hello and welcome back for another review. Today I will be taking a look at the vaporesso Xros 5 Pod Kit that was provided to me by sourcemore in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The Xros 5 has a built in 1500mah battery that delivers a maximum of 30 watts of output. The battery is charged via the onboard 3A fast charge circuit to get you back up and running quicker. There is a large .88 inch HD screen for better viewing. There are six themed functions and three adjustable output modes. Much like the Xros Pro, the 5 can use the .4 ohm pods for adjustable wattage. The other resistance pods make use of the three available output modes.

    INITIAL THOUGHTS:

Let me start by saying that I used to review for Vaporesso and reviewed the first three versions of the Xros which turned into me continue using the Xros versions as a pocket carry at work for years now. Since then, I’ve reviewed and continued to use the Xros 4 at work and have a couple of backups. It was only natural for me to request the Xros 5 for review from Sourcemore.

The packaging for the Xros 5 is much like I’ve seen before from Vaporesso. There is a black background with the large green Vaporesso logo. The Vaporesso and Xros 5 names appear in white lettering. There is also a color picture of the device and the Corex 3.0 badge. The back of the box has the usual specifications, packing list, and company information.

Once the outer sleeve is slid off, there is a black pouch containing the user manual and an instruction card. Underneath that is the device with one pod installed, USB-C charging cable and a second pod. There is one .4 ohm pod and one .6 ohm pod included.

The front of the pod has the color display screen and comes with a sticker that has the operating instructions printed on it. You can see the operating instructions in the second picture below so there really isn’t a reason for me to re-type them here.

Just like previous versions of the Xros, the wattage is only adjustable when using the .4 ohm pods. When using the higher resistance pods then there are just choices of modes. The three choices are Power, Normal, and Eco.

The Xros 5 can be activated by auto draw or button firing. The fire button can be turned off in the menu so that it only operates using auto draw. The fire button is located on one side along with the USB-C fast charging port. The opposite side has the sliding airflow control that contains two different sized holes.

The pod opening on the Xros 5 has the usual spring loaded plated contacts that make connection with the bottom of the pod. There is also the airflow sensor that activates the device when using auto draw. There are also two magnets to hold the pod in place securely.

The pods included are the .4 and .6 ohm Corex 3.0 version. The Xros 5 is however compatible with all of the previous versions of the Xros pods. The pods included have a 3ml capacity and are a true top fill. In case you aren’t familiar with the Xros pods, the black plastic mouthpiece simply snaps of for refilling. I have been a longtime fan of the Xros series and the pods. I have been using the Corex 2 series of pods in the .4 ohm resistance for quite some time.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

It has been my pleasure to review the latest version of the Xros family by Vaporesso. The Xros 5 has an increased battery capacity of 1500mah. This is larger than the Xros 4 which had a 1000mah battery and even a little larger than the Xros Pro that has a 1200mah battery capacity. The color screen is really nice on this one also. The Xros 5 also has a max output of 30 watts which really makes the .4 ohm pod perform well. I personally like this one at 25 watts. I’m not personally much into using different themes and light up effects but for those that are, the Xros 5 offers six different themes that can be chosen from.

Well, all I can say here at the end is that I definitely appreciate the longer battery life on this one. I have used and currently use a version of the Xros at work daily for a pocket carry and this one will replace one of the Xros Pro pods that I currently use. It’s slimmer than the Pro which makes it nice to carry in a shirt pocket without being noticed. I’d like to thank Sourcemore for sending the Vaporesso Xros 5 for this review. It is much appreciated and will continue to be used long term. Also a big thanks to the readers. Below is a link to the website for your viewing pleasure.
