Hi all,

I've been using Kangertech's 2.6ohm coils with my Protank 2 and MVP 2.0 for a while now, and for the most part they've worked just fine.

However, once every few coils, I'll get one that's pretty much a dud. Can't vape it at more than 5-6W without getting a nasty burnt taste. It's all the more frustrating because I can usually get up to 7-8W just fine.

I've been shopping around for alternatives, and vaporfi's Pro-L heads seem to fit the bill. They look exactly like Kangertech's single-coil heads, but claim to be "the best functioning possible" and have "highly advanced wicks". Is this true in everyone's experience? Is there a noticeable difference between VaporFi and Kangertech's heads?

Thanks!

There are so many versions I have bought (Kang2) recently from local shops here in CT it seems like they are always modifying the design.. at least in my experience- or there are some shops selling clones/rips and I would say that with my evod, about 2 in ten give me an issue of one sort or another- yesteray I piucked a few up and they have a totally new vent profile, one single bore instead of two (each side) and they absolutely suck and will only work with my stock tank - my protank3 barely fit together with it, kinda gave me slight resitance when I first changed out from my standard coil. Lot to keep eyes open about out there.

I figured as much. That's a bummer :\

Is it just expected to get a dud every so often, then?

A dud wouldn't be uncommon, but I know a lot of B&M's sell the 'clone' ones, which I believe are really factory seconds. When I used ProTanks I would put a couple drops of e-liquid directly on the coil to prime it before I installed it...

I used to get them from SunVapers, who are authorized Kanger re-sellers-

Kanger Protank eVod atomizer coils for $4.99

Welcome @jawshooah, seems like any brand of pre made coils you will always find some duds. Once you get into making your own coils and wicking them yourself, you'll be much happier and save alot of money.
That's definitely something to keep in mind for the future, but for now I'm trying to keep it simple. Thanks for the advice!

I've been ordering straight from Kangertech's website so far, as the closest B&M to me is a 30 minute bus ride away. Would you suggest I use SunVapers, or another reseller, instead?

short answer is yes.
its one reason people eventually go rebuildable.

if you get a subtank mini, or a goliath or one of such tanks that come with rebuildable heads then you get get a 5pack or 10pack of rebuildable coil heads; then you will be with a similar setup to your protank except you don't keep throwing out good heads and buying new ones that might be duds.
You can rewick them yourself and if theres a vape shop near you, you can have them recoiled after a few months at the vape shop if they need recoiling; or you can take them into the vapeshop once a month for rewicking if you don't want to do that yourself.

I never had a problem with Sun Vapers and their prices are good. I recently got a Kabuki tank and it looks like I'll be ordering Nautilus coils from them now...

In a nutshell VaporFi coils are essentially rebranded Kanger coils (essentially meaning stevegmu could be right in that they could be seconds). You do not have to buy them directly from Kanger, though. I've been getting mine from Mount Baker for $8-$9 for a five pack.

What you really need is something called SOCC* (or, in other tanks - TOCC or VOCC)

Protank 1 and 2 BOTH take SOCC.

I ordered 4 packs from China (genuine Kanger) for under $5 a pack. They should land in the USA for about $9.

*Kanger make cotton wool versions of the old silica PT atomizer replacement heads.
I have a TOCC in a T3 clearo... it's at least 3 weeks old.

I'd bet Sweet Vapes sell them.

Me thinks @stevegmu and @djsvapour are the forum Vaporfi haters

I love vaporfi even though their products cost about 10 times what others manufacturers do

VaporFi is a joke of a company which makes a lot of unsubstantiated claims and sells vape products for 2-3 times what everyone else does...
I was reading through their customer reviews and they r either fake or are from ppl who have never been on the net b4.They were praising the products and prices.I wanted so bad to let them know they were getting ripped off. They used mostly kangertech stuff and sell for cut throat prices. Their bestseller was a 50watt mod and subtank mini for over 200

@Andy Ho you would be quite correct about vaporfi... They are very outrageous with their costs..... Lots of members on this forum cannot stand vaporfi, especially the two I already mentioned and so I am always poking fun at them lol :) It's all in good fun between a few of us guys here. So, no, please ignore what I jokingly said earlier about vaporfi :)
