Here's A Question For You All...

Would you like to see the Saber Touch with an Adjustable Voltage Option?

I certainly do not want to copy from anyone's ideas, but I've had so many requests for this to be an option. Even Smokie did a video and called me requesting it.

So let me know.

The problem with small potentiometers is that on 99% of all small ones, only have a life span of turning them 200 times. If I did do something like this, you know me, I would need it to last a very, very long time.

Sir_L, I think if you were going to change anything at all, the masses would prefer an on/off switch to adjustable voltage. Only my opinion...but I love mine just the way they are!

I would have to agree with you. I'd rather have different caps or a on off switch then a variable voltage esp if theres a chance its gonna break and be default 3.7 forever.

But 200 turns is about all you get on the very small potentiometers. That's why you can't warrant them for more than a few months, because they will burn out, just like a push button switch. That's why I went with a touch sensor... to last a life time.

Hmmm, an On/Off switch. I think a small piece of tape would work! Kidding! The problem with On/Off switches is that people, for the most part, don't use them anyway. If I did do something with a potentiometer, you could just dial it down to zero... acting like a cut off switch. But I would use one large enough to be able to move it by hand, or a key, and would allow at least 2000 rotations. That would last for 5 years then!

Well, I don't think I'm going to sleep well tonight...I may be up all night trying to make the sunburn stop burning LOL Sat out at the SCCA race all day and I am a lobster! Maybe, just maybe I can find a pink powdercoat that will be suitable for a new Komen Walk Saber :D
Oh, I feel for you... I hate being burnt!

Mostly just the diameter, can it be any smaller? I sold my 6v cause it felt uncomfortable to hold. I really want a 5v so I am waiting to see if you can do variable voltage, that would be great imo and just a bit smaller overall esp. diameter.
The only way to do that is to reconfigure the whole mod to accept different size batteries. I don't know of batteries that thin that would give the voltage I would need. Lengthwise, I could take off 1/2" maybe.

I see...no sense changing it then. Sounds like leaving it the way it is would be the best option. Var. voltage is pointless if it wears out that quickly, I think.
I'm looking into other ways of having Variable voltage. I'm trying to find one that has at least 20,000 cycles... which will last many years without any problems.
