Problem sorted out.
Tried a 510 -> 901 adapter with a 3.0 ohm 901 atty. Results were very consistent 5 volt hits even after the 3-4 good drags. Power didn't fade and all was good.
Tried 3 different Joye 510 atties all measuring 2.1 - 2.2 ohms. Results were inconsistent as before. About 4 good drags, then vapor slowly diminished to where I could hardly get anything after about 8 drags. This was even after re-dripping and ensuring not flooded etc etc.
Bottom line is, the 510 connection in the ST really likes the 510->901 adapter and doesn't "mate" well with Joye 510 atties.
Sir Lawrence has been notified and he will be getting in touch with his 510 connection supplier/producer to develop a fix for this issue as I'm not the only ST user to experience performance drop after approx. 4 good drags.
I guess my ST will be relegated to 901 use from now on as I cannot use any 510 without suffering from performance consistency issues.

I got my 3.7v 16340 batteries in today. Just waiting for them to finish charging.
How long did you have your 5 volt before it began developing this problem? I've had the 3.7-6volt shiny without issues for 2-3 weeks. I just received my 5 volt yesterday and have been vaping on it with LR 510's with no issues so far.
