On the edge of insanity..
That picture reminds me of the time my wife bought a double pack of double sized toilet paper and didnt get it put away before running out for something. By the time I get home, it looked like it snowed in our house. One of the dogs got into it and just shredded it!

That pooch got a lot of fiber that day!

Yeah, its that straw factor I'm trying to avoid. lol And guessing putting it on brownish hair probably wouldn't see if much, without the bleaching first, huh?

It really does depend on how dark brown your natural color is and which colors you are dying it. I have med/light brown hair and I had great results with the bright reds and darker blues and purples and burgundy. If I was wanting to do something like a bright yellow orange or lime, then I would have to bleach it 1st.
The reds and burgundy looked amazing when I had my hair curly. I miss it, but my current boss does not like it when I have brightly colored hair.

I'm kind leaning towards red anyway. I've had a more natural red hair, and a sort of darkish more natural burgandy before (went awry at the stylist when trying to get chocolate brown)... and if that would work ok with really dark blonde/lightish brown hair that would be perfect. I love the idea of the light lavender color, but that one might be better in streaks, rather than whole hair. lol
