Thanks, Red! It definitely has been quite a journey, but on the way we have learned that, even though his situation is not ideal, there are still others out there that are struggling through worse situations.
This experience has given us a newfound repect for life, in general, as well as rewarded us with a TON of patience. It's not the path I would have chosen for him, but we are humbled for having traveled down this road.
Illinois is definitely a beautiful state, and I can see how you would miss it dearly, being born here at all. I feel the same way about Texas, where I spent the first 29 years of my life, and where most of our family still resides. The family part is what we miss the most.
