I don't know if it's over. :?:

I'm laughing at some of the stuff we use to do though.

Chinese Fire Drill
Stop at a Red Light. Everyone on the Driver's side would run around and get in on the Passenger's side. Everyone on the Passenger's side would run around and get in on the Driver's side.

I actually saw a bunch of kids doing this yesterday. It's still around!

So........ do you think we would have had such a fun/easy time with this if it was the 80s or 90s? I could probably do 50s easier than the others and that is just because I really love doowop :D

For me, 80's would be easy.... 90's, a little harder but doable. Beyond that, I'm pretty much lost. For the 50's, I'm afraid I'd be hitting the history books for a lot of it (although I might be able to handle the movies and some of the more well-known music).

so would you like to do this again for the next contest?
if so what year or year?

I'm not done with 1960s yet. What can I say, a lot of things happened back then and we did a lot of great stuff and a lot of silly stuff.

Other wise 1950s!!!! I was just a baby but the time is interesting.

I know there are a couple of other "Prog Heads" who have been playing this game/contest, and I thought I would post a little more Kevin Gilbert with one of his other bands, Giraffe, from the ProgFest here in L.A. back in 1994.

They used to have them every year for a while, and I went to a couple, including this one... a lot of great bands played there!!

This is a pretty decent performance of one of my fave songs from TLLDOB... :)

And for any of you who are interested, here is the vid of their whole performance:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4Ml1QDdNZ0

"In 1994, Kevin Gilbert reformed his progressive rock band Giraffe for one special performance of Genesis' opus The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway at Progfest 94. The concert took place at at the Variety Arts Center in Los Angeles, CA on November 5, 1994.

The performance does not include the entire Lamb album (several songs were omitted due to time constraints), but two non-Lamb Genesis track were included in the set."

I bought the last copy of this tape, since they weren't sure if they would be able to sell any more after his death...

I don't know how many we had that weren't of this era participate because they may have felt out of their element... I would give any decade a try, I am always up for a little learning. Even like the 20' and 30s would bring some good and bad things but were supposedly fun times. Lone Wolf could get several contests out of this theme perhaps. I think we could find players and enough info with the internet these days to do any of them and think whatever one chosen could be fun. Even if you think an era might be a tough one, just drop the entries to 2 or 3 per day

How about the 50's AND 60's??? That way we can have the best of both worlds!! :D

(I was born in the early 50's, but that doesn't mean I didn't know what was going on... lol)

And Joan is right... there is always the internet!! :thumb:

Anything after the sixties would be difficult for me. I'm a sixties girl. Fifties would be easy too. Once I got married, moved to an island, and had my son, I lost track of everything cool.

Well, it seems like I'm being out-voted on this one, but I'm game for whatever comes... Pop culture from any era is interesting. We could make it really tough and do the 1860's...? :D

Actually the 1860's would be very interesting. I'd really like that one. Lincoln, the civil war, those gorgeous clothes the women wore, steam trains, there are lots of interesting things from then!
