I am one concerned individual. On any day you read about another organization, group, individual, etc. proclaiming about the evils of vaping, of their concern about the youth of America, and various misinformed articles they have read. While I am not qualified to speak about the nicotine contained in e-juice, I, like they, also read articles. I happen to read the Pro-vaping articles with much more enthusiasm then the Anti-vaping articles. From my understanding, nicotine has not been proven in any scientific experiment to be harmful to individuals, nor has "second-hand" vapor been proven to be dangerous to any individual exposed to it.

As I am a somewhat "older" person, and I have a relatively good memory, I see a lot of the well known Anti-Smoking issues are being raised now, in the same form, being used for Anti-Vaping. And it is this that prompted me to write this New Thread. For those of you who are young and didn't live through the Anti-Smoking movement, or were too young to be concerned in the Anti-Smoking issues let me plead with you to read this or ask someone who is older to explain it to you. Once, I was able to smoke anywhere I wanted to. From the Doctor's office, Restaurants, Sports Venues, any place I had the desire to smoke. Nobody looked at me as if I was a Evil Person, in fact they may even join me. Then the scientific community got involved and raised the issue of second-hand smoke. It was proven that second-hand smoke was a danger to those that were exposed to it. It was after this that the "Smokers" rights began to be eroded. You would sneak off to a place out of the way to smoke. If someone would approach you and ask you to put it out (some more nicely then others) you would apologize, put it out and then sneak away with your tail tucked between your legs. It was this attitude that Smokers accepted that soon became, you must be 20 feet from a doorway to smoke, to you cannot smoke in any public building, to maybe the landlord will rent to you or maybe not because you smoke. What the heck happened to Smoker's Rights? Smoker's were in a war and the Smoker's, without firing a shot, lost the war.

Now, this is how I see it. I realize that some of you may not agree with me, and some of you will. For those of you that do not agree with me, at least have an open mind and think about where and how you vape. Those of you that do agree with me, vape PROUD, vape everwhere, and never, never apologize for your SMART decision to vape. If someone tries to tell you that you are wrong to vape , explain the reasons you elected to vape as opposed to smoke, speak to them as if they were the most important person you have ever spoken to, and if they still will not listen to you raise you PV take a healthy toot and blow the vapor into their face. And then, walk proudly away.:vapor:

I'm surprised no one has replied to this post, maybe just trying to avoid getting into a debate.

There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about the future of vaping, and my vaping-dooms-day plans. Thankfully with all the information out there, and what we can get and where, there is no way they can stop us from vaping.

However that being said there are some general practices we should have, as vapers should be courteous about it. First and foremost, always ask if you can where you are. Don't go cloud chasing with a lot of people around. Know your facts to you can explain it to someone who is interested, or defend it and have the facts to back it up. And for me the last thing is to be informed of what is going on.

Some of it is common sense stuff, but it's not all that uncommon for people to just not know ;p

Welcome to the forms ;p

I remember those days, and I agree 1000%.

I vape wherever I damn well please. If decorum dictates, I will ask a proprietor or other authority, but those times are rare. There is no danger to others (at least not until the government commissions some "scientists" to find a harm, like they did with climate change). I have vaped on airplanes, in hospitals, at work, in bars, in restaurants, in stores, shopping malls, hotels, everywhere. It feels damn good to be free again. There are a few places that I have been where there were no vaping (actually, no e-cig) signs. I did not vape in the common areas in those places, but I did vape in the men's rooms.

I hate to read posts from people on here that say we should not vape in public because it will lead to bans. I hate to tell them, but the bans are coming either way. Politicians, and others in the ruling class thrive on controlling the people. They will do so just because they can. Not to mention the fact that we vapers are upsetting the apple cart and messing up the funding structure of the axis of evil - government / tobacco industry / pharmaceutical industry. All 3 are losing money because we found a back door out of the system. The best way to fight the bans is to vape everywhere so that as many people as possible are exposed to it directly and can experience for themselves how unobtrusive it really is. Then, when the politicians pass these bans, they too will see that it was not done to "protect" the non vapers...

I do remember when you could smoke at the hairdressers, in the mall, and in restaurants and hotels. I went from being a equal person to a second class citizen! I was pushed out into the cold, and shamed. I completely agree with your article.! I watched as we smokers were not only stripped of our rights but our dignity also! For the younger folks who didn't see it happen it happened rather quickly actually.I watched as cigarettespecially were taxed to death and went from 1.15. To 6.00 a pack. Until it got so bad you felt like hiding if you were a smokers because you got tired of the smug looks and people fake coughing as they walked by you. Yes I do know how bad it can get. With enough propaganda people will see you as a second class citizen, sum of the earth. It would break my heart to see this happen to vaping. All the while pretending it's for our better good. Meanwhile they glamorize alcohol which has wrecked homes and DOES kill people. Just ask me, my father died from alcohol. What a hypocritical society we live in! It's ok to put on television for our kids to watch daily about how drinking this alcohol makes you get girls, or this brand makes you a real man. Yet they want to ban flavor juices because kids might want them. No I don't buy it! Not for one second! There is another motive and it's all about MONEY. They can care less about my children but use these tactics to reach their self serving goals! It's a bunch of propaganda! To get people to think and behave the way they want them too. I'm with you on this! I call B.S. we need to finally stand up for our rights. If we dont. We will be made into second class citizens all over again. Just like with smoking.

I have to say that I can understand why there is no smoking allowed in these past places that we once were aloud. The tar left behind on the walls etc and not to mention the smell is horrible. As for vaping I believe there should be a place for vapourers and that place not being the smokers pit. However there is not much we can do about it. At least I don't think there is. I did join the CASAA.

I think the vast majority of us here are current and ex-smokers and I am with you in feeling angry and AMAZED that there is so much hype about the evils of vaping and sooo much misinformation being passed on to a public that is hungry for a cause to rally against.

WHAT ABOUT THE BABIES??!!?!!1

My only issue with what's been said is that smoking IS bad. Period. It's bad for the smoker and to a less degree to anyone around the smoker. It's smelly and deadly and we all do/did it despite knowing all that. I think it was right for smoking bans to happen if only to protect the non-smokers from being exposed to our addiction.

I think it's right for us to fight for our rights to vape and I hope we as vapers are never corralled into dark corners or smoking areas that are a mile from our desk at work but to compare it to smokers rights isn't going to help our cause. We need to have a very, very clear division of smoking from vaping.

I've only been vaping a month but love it. Smoked cigs for 30 years and don't miss them one bit! I haven't been on this site much but the more I read the more I freaking out! It all makes perfect sense...."Our Controlling Government" isn't getting a cut of the profit!
Was informed today about light bulbs (cheapy's) being banned. I own mulitiple rental houses and buy a ton of these or should I say used to. I guess I will learn and buy some Mods sooner than I thought! URG!
Joining and educating myself quickly on e cig support groups....

I'm going to play devil's advocate. Threads like this get under my skin. I agree that vaping is less harmful than smoking but has yet to be proven in long term use studies. Studies show that second hand vaping is harmless but actual use of vapor might be. Plain and simple we don't know.

Smoking/vaping is NOT a right. It is a Choice. In this country ALL threats are treated equal from something as minor as vaping/smoking to things as major as terrorism. Every threat is dealt with until deemed safe or can be appropriately dealt with. It is the way of the world now.

Until the Constitution says I can vape anywhere I will not call it a right. Even driving is not a right. It is legally deemed a privilege.

It only takes one person to start a revolution.

I agree with some of what you say, but disagree with some also, especially this. Being disrespectful does more harm that anything else.

When I was a smoker, I was glad that smoking was prohibited in many places. I hated going to a restaurant (for example) and having people around me smoking, and even 20 years ago would seek out non-smoking restaurants when dining. As a vapor, I don't particularly like people vaping near me in closed environments either. I don't want to smell someones tobacco flavored (or many other flavors) liquid while I'm eating or grabbing a coffee. It has nothing to do with the reasons why I (or others) vape, or that it's better than smoking.

I was at a vape meet this past weekend and there was a guy there that had created a wooden holder that hung from his neck on a huge lanyard. The wooden holder held 3 different MODS that were all connected with one long mouthpiece so that when he vaped he was actually vaping off of 3 MOds at once and it produced the biggest smelliest cloud I've ever seen. Unfortunately, if you allow vaping anywhere, you'll always get people like that that take advantage of it. I don't want that guy sitting next to me in a restaurant where I'm buying my food.

So, educate folks on the benefits of vaping, but also understand that some people will be bothered by vaping (sights and smells), and to do it courteously.

Actually, I think your response "begs the question". As you correctly stated, studies show that second-hand vapor is harmless. We are harming no one by vaping opening most places but respectfully. So there is absolutely no need for those who vape to be treated as if we still smoke both from where we vape and how we are taxed.

And there have been enough studies to prove without a doubt that vaping for the vaper, is easily 100% safer than smoking. But we should not be treated like smokers in the oft chance that there is some health risks for those who vape for 30+ years.

Here is how I see the example you used. We don't need a LAW to control the very small minority of vapers that will be jerks. The property owner can deal with inconsiderate behavior whether it be from vaping, playing music, talking on a cell phone, etc. The problem you describe is "inconsiderate behavior" not vaping. Although I don't believe you are advocating a law. I agree with you that we all should be considerate and we should try to encourage others to be the same way.

True.........but I cannot get a Mickey Dee's coffee without the "caution, this is really hot" or use a blow dryer that doesn't have the tag that says, "don't use in shower" because of the inconsiderate few with little to no intellegence

American's all have perceived freedom.............no one really has any true freedom. You can just do what you are allowed to............sad truth

If they required a warning on all PV's and e-liquid that stated "handle with care" and then went away and never came back, I think most of us would be fine with that.

...........and the one that says, don't be a donkey's rear and blow huge plumes of vapor in someone's face in public because "you can". Look, I agree with what you are saying. I just think like everything else; the low intelligence minority of the group will inevitably ruin it for everyone else. Not that it wouldn't happen anyway but one or a few of them is going to give the anti-vaping community the reason by being unsafe with their batteries or juice around their kids or being inconsiderate in public, etc, etc, etc........just like everything else.

    And excellent postings, wv2win

And to those who believe that living on the face of this earth is a privilege to be granted and taken away by the government... uhm.... I got news for you: The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 :p

At the present time, there is, of course, North Korea, as a perfect home for those who like to kowtow to the almighty power of an almighty government.
