Hi all

Well im looking for a new E-cig and thought ide ask some of the more experienced vapers on some recommendations.

I'm a heavy chain smoker so it's got to be something I can use daily in work etc.

Ive used a kanger subox kit but didnt find it very good, could be my inexperience. Taste was constantly burnt or hot.

I'm interested in the build your own rba stuff quite happy if I can just stick in normal and maybe sub ohm coils etc.

cheers guys

When I first started, and still, my priority is getting the nicotine. My taste buds were burnt from smoking, so flavor wasn't a concern. I got a simple system (20-30 watts) with 1.5ish coils and started low on how many watts I used. Slowly raised it until it felt "okay". Reading your post, I suggest 18 or 24mg of nic. Just go with your physical urges as to when to pick up and take 3-4 draws.

Over time, I slowly lowered my nic. Now, I sometimes forget if I am busy. But, I do like a nice vape, too.

Hi, Im looking to get strter kit.

These days, it seems folks are subohming right off the bat because these kits are considered the new norm in vaping.

I would tell folks to start out on an iStick 30 watt and a Nautilus tank kit, and work up from there.*

If you click that link, scroll down to read the details and see if that isn't what you're trying to find. Though, with a Nautilus Mini, the kit would look smarter.

    EDIT:

*OR, more importantly, you might just get the tank and use it on your Subox at around 7-10 watts. That way, you will have 2 tanks for the different purposes.

The ability to build a coil in a rba set up and replace a regular (>1.0Ω) and/or subohm coil head in the same tank might be a challenge, but I'm sure it's out there. I was recently gifted a Triforce Tank and bought the rebuildable upgrade kit for that purpose, but am still trying to fine tune it.

The replaceable heads on these are .2 and .5 ohms which, as of yet, do not fit my vaping profile.

All that being said, I would not recommend this tank to anyone unless they knew exactly what they were getting into.

The Subox Mini kit is actually pretty good and one of my recommended starter kits along with the Evic VTC Mini. "Burnt and hit" would indicate setting the power too high or improperly using Temperature Control. I would suggest getting some of the non-TC 1.2Ω and .5Ω coils and start with those. Learn how to properly prime a new coil, and how to start with the power low and ramp it up to find a good vape for you. Once we get you rockin' that setup, then we can look at moving you up a notch with RBA's and more powerful mods.

One thing for sure - if you don't know, ask us here. We'll be glad to help. :)

I sold my subbox wondering if I was to haisty now and just didn't play with it enough. I managed to do my own wicking with the mini rba included but never tasted right to me.

Im starting to think that maybe im expecting it to taste exactly like a tabocco roll up and that's not the case plus when I inhaled it gave me a tickling feeling in my throat then made me cough badly kind of put me off

There are some tobacco-flavored juices out there which are supposed to be close to the analogs taste-wise, but I've never tried them. I was a menthol smoker..

The throat tickle could have a few causes, least of which would be the nastiness of getting burnt hits. (yeuucchhkk!) Higher nicotine content juices will give more throat hit as will juices higher in PG content. Is there a vape store anywhere in proximity that you can get to and try some different juices? Sampling to find a few flavors you like can be very helpful in enjoying your vape.

It's a weird position to be recommending that you get the very kit that you got rid of. @sparkky1 gave the link for the Subox Mini, also look at the Evic VTC Mini as an option

I could on the kanger using the temp control and the ni200 coil but use to get really warm which I didn't like was using king of vap 60/40 juice.

There is only 1 vap shop near me but didn't like the guy lol was about 17. Don't get me wrong he gave me all the science etc behind it but seemed very robotic and was pushing me to buy the dearest kit plus couldn't test the juices only smell them lol.

I'm 99% sure the Subox has a coil resistance lock on it, which is what you needed to do after you got the "New coil?" message. Unlocked coil resistance will have the mod chasing a moving coil resistance reading while trying to calculate the temperature of the coil. It's not a happy experience. And you certainly would not be the first person to suffer from that oversight of locking in the resistance.

So, what do you think? Willing to give it another go?

The temp display changing is normal on TC mods - it's reading and displaying the calculated coil temperature. They will read "TEMP PROTECT" or similar when it reaches the max temp setting. Using TC has some requisites that need to be understood for it to work properly. Sadly, the instructions that come with many TC mods don't spell those out very well.
Glad that you're willing to give it another try. :)

I am also a newbie, tomorrow will be 1 week without a cigarette. Like you, I started off with a tobacco flavor that was supposed to match my cig brand, but I was not at all impressed by the taste. Nothing like a cigarette at all. Luckily, the nice girl from the vape shop had convinced me to also get a 10ml bottle of "Strawberry Zephyr" juice. Game changer. Since then, I haven't touched the tobacco flavor, or any real cigarettes either. In fact, I'm not even craving a cigarette, I'm craving my tasty vape!

So try something else besides tobacco flavors, you might be surprised.
