I was the lucky winner of the Fusion AOI kit, which arrived safely several days ago, and I have been playing with since. Thanks to @Ancy and to Vaptico for providing this contest and this kit.

Specs

This kit comes in six colors, including black, and I was extremely happy to have received the “Nebula” version, which was actually my favorite color. The kit has a 3.8 ml capacity juice-well and the atomizer/coil and drip-tip are all easily removed to refill from the battery and the fill size appeared fairly accurate. It also comes with a 0.8 coil for a more “MTL” experience and a “DL” coil that is 0.25 for more of a DL experience. The kit has fixed wattage options of 30-40-50 watts including a “boost” function if more wattage is needed.

The kit is a very easy set-up and the instructions provided are very clear. The manual includes instructions on how to prime the coil, as well as how to fill the juice well safely. The battery itself while tiny is 1500 mAh, so even using higher wattages the battery capacity is fantastic for its size. Also included is a USB charger cord, the cord itself is quite short, but it is serviceable.

The kit’s dimensions are 63 mm by 52 mm by 24 mm, and to really get a feel for how small it is, you really need to see it in the hand. It was heavier than I expected, but given the battery size I would expect it to be heavy. It actually feels really great and solid in the hand, and it would be a great pocket or purse carry for someone on the go.

There are multiple user protections, including short circuit protection, low voltage protection, over-charging protection (which can be nice to have) as well as a 12-second cut-off over-vape protection (which I did test, and it does work) as well as 5V/10A charging capacity which gives a rapid, less than 2.5 hours charge. Once I charged mine, it did in fact fall under that time frame, and it was an easy and rapid charge. As this kit is designed for USB charge only, a more rapid charge time can sometimes be a real benefit. There is also a 10 minute auto-lock protection which functions normally. I both like and dislike this feature, as there are times when I throw something in a vaping lineup (usually how I test new things) it was inconvenient to continue unlocking it (5 rapid clicks) which need to be pretty close to each other and even clicks, which would be fantastic for avoiding any rapid and erratic pocket fires as you have to be fairly precise to turn the mod on. It did take a little adjustment but it is something I appreciated as well as a safety feature that will lock your mod for you if you fail to do so.

I started out with the 0.8 coil, priming as instructed (placing 3-4 drops directly onto the coil cotton) and then filling the juice well and inserting the AIO setup. The setup has top air flow and it is easy to adjust and will stay where you adjust it.

My initial experience was quite disappointing with the 0.8 coil. Attempting to vape it at 30 or even 40 watts, I got a lot of flooding, a lot of spitting, and quite a bit of hot, but uncomfortable and inconsistent vape. I decided to not immediately give up, as I knew to make this setup work for me, the 0.25 coil would likely not be the one I needed to get up and vaping. Adjustments I tried included a longer, ultem drip tip that did give me a little distance from the pop/spit action, and also helped cool down the vape considerably, but it was still not a very enjoyable vape at all.

I decided to continue experimenting with it, and what I discovered was that once I had “vaped through” the initial priming/filling process, the vape slowly but steadily calmed down, and became a quite enjoyable vape with absolutely consistent results. With the drip tip I used, at 30 watts this was actually a very enjoyable, slightly cloudy vape that didn’t feel too hot, or too overwhelming. I was greatly surprised by the change in vape, and would recommend to those wanting a more MTL option (or at least especially with the 0.8 coil) that over priming (which I believe happened due to the directions for priming) and not filling the juice well to full capacity would be beneficial. To test this theory, I emptied out the device and did not fill quite to the top, and was pleased with the similar, consistent vape result. I very rarely vape at 30 watts, but this vape is one I actually enjoy (more so with the longer drip tip) and I would find myself puffing on it quite frequently along with my other setups, finding the vape smooth, flavorful and consistent.

I think those having trouble with the 0.8 coil really need to look at not over priming or over-filling initially, or with a new coil, and many of those early problems could be avoided. Once the vape settled into its “designed” style, it was really very enjoyable and even at 0.8 resistance, the vape is satisfying within a few puffs, smooth, and very pleasant, the kit also delivered great flavor with my DIY juices.

Having figured out the issues with the MTL coil, I decided to try the 0.25 coil. It’s definitely a lot cloudier, and IMO does best at either 40 or 50 watts, but I believe it would be a satisfying experience for a sub-ohm vaper, and that flexibility is one of the things that makes this kit appealing. For those who enjoy switching modes, or varying vape, vaping the MTL coil at 40 watts is fairly similar to vaping the DL coil at 30 watts, so it is possible to make adjustments to the vape without changing the coil, just the wattage. As an AIO, this is a useful feature, as oftentimes people may want a stealthier vape in one area, but the ability to vape more e-liquid more quickly or when on breaks, etc.

Either coil has some flexibility, although overall I would say that I preferred the 0.8 coil generally, and especially at 30 watts. With that said, for a DL inhale, the 0.25 coil also delivers a nice, (if warmer) vape that is smooth and consistent. I did not run into priming problems with the 0.25 coil following the manufacturer’s directions.

I would say that I’m uncertain if my issues arose merely because it was the kit’s very first use, but following the directions provided really flooded that 0.8 coil but simply vaping through it corrected the experience. I do like the kit enough (especially as a small, out and about vape) that I will be ordering more 0.8 coils and will likely see what happens if I do less priming and also don’t fill to total capacity. I guess it’s also possible that the 0.8 coil takes a little longer to break in, and certainly, “flooded” was resolved more easily than “burnt” would be, although the length of time and adjustments needed for me was a bit discouraging at first, followed by being rewarded with a really consistent, tasty vape, so those of you in search of MTL goodness, it’s really worth not giving up on that first fill/coil and looking for remedies to fix it.

I didn’t enjoy the drip tip, it was black plastic and one of the few things on the kit I did not like, although to be fair, it’s hard to like something that is repeatedly spitting hot vape into your mouth, although once the vape settled down I did return the original drip tip to the kit and it functioned okay, although I will say I vastly preferred my longer, ultem drip tip over the original, as it did seem to help cool the vape quality some, which is what I enjoy. For a warmer vape, I think the original drip tip would work just fine however.

Overall quality of design was excellent. The Fusion kit does what it says it does: it provides a versatile, comfortable and quality vape in a very small package. Everything is easy to adjust, the safety features work consistently, and it’s overall a very enjoyable vape with nice design features. The 0.25 coil is not for me, but I didn’t expect it to be for me. It was a nice, cloudy vape that was warmer, and I think would satisfy many sub0hmers and or/crossover folks. The kit is nicely assembled, it’s cute and colorful, and just fun. I will also note that this mod (while tiny) has one of the nicer feels in the hand that I have come across, I found myself vaping it more frequently than I thought I would within my usual rotation and flavor was consistently good once the vape settled down. This is definitely a kit I plan on keeping in my rotation, and definitely something I would feel comfortable bringing with me out and about. While I haven’t vaped that many AIO kits, I really enjoyed this one, including the way it is designed, ease of use, size, and portability and flexibility.

I would say overall I would recommend this kit for a new vaper, or perhaps just someone looking for a flexible, small vape. I was pleased with both battery life as well as hand-feel design, and vape quality. It took me a little while to see where the Fusion shines, but I am glad I was persistent as giving up too soon would have deprived me of a very satisfying, well-thought out vaping experience.

Would I recommend this mod? Overall, I absolutely would. It really delivers more than just an “on the go,” vape, it is in its own right a very satisfying well-designed vape that I plan on continuing to use. While the 0.8 at 30 watt setting can be vaped in a MTL fashion, it also does a rather nice restricted DL hit if desired, depending on length and strength of inhale. The 0.25 coil is definitely more of a DL only experience. However, overall I was extremely pleased with the vape. It is something I would recommend as a “cute kit” to a newcomer looking for something a little different, and it’s also a great take with you vape, for an experienced user, and it delivers a great deal of flavor and a very satisfying vape. If anything, it’s slightly overpowered for me at 30 watts, but once I got the coil, the flooding, and the drip tip resolved, I really enjoyed the vape a lot. Ease of use and ease of carry are great as well.

I’d like to be able to have tested it by dropping it (especially on my first few inhales) but I decided against that. Build quality is excellent however, it’s put together thoughtfully and appears quite durable indeed. The Fusion kit is satisfying, and it’s consistent. I actually will often use it if I want slightly more nicotine more quickly, even with the airflow almost closed, you are going to get quite a bit of vape. With the caveat that there may need to be a little tinkering in the beginning, and if a new user wants to use the MTL coil, perhaps priming needs to take place with a little less intensity so that the vape is good from the very start.

My initial impressions were unfavorable but I am extremely glad I continued experimenting with the vape, the length of fire, drip tip and other methods to eventually find a fantastic vape after changing some things around. I would definitely recommend this AOI kit for someone looking for portability, ease of use, variety, as well as many interesting features packed into a small device.

Initially, I thought this kit was unvapable, but I actually find it extremely pleasant to vape after a bit of a rocky start. I am glad I continued experimenting, as it really is an excellent AOI, and I am glad to have one in my stable.
