I just bought a variable voltage ego passthrough, not the kind with the battery, it just plugs straight into a usb port. It can do 3.2,3.7, and 4.2 I believe. I'm concerned though about the amperage of a laptop usb port. I've read that it could fry the port or worse the computer if 'drawn' on too hard. I did however recently buy a cyberpower 7 port usb powered hub. I think the wall wart is rated at 3.6 amps, not sure (definitely over 3 amps though). It's completely self powered, you don't even need a computer connected to have active usb power. Should I be using this instead of my computer to power the ego PT??

Well, the usb hub is a no go. I can tell the passthrough is "struggling". I tried it in a car adapter that I know is 5v 2 amp usb, and it works good. I guess I'm just gonna have to get a true 2A usb wall adapter. BTW, I'm trying to use a 1.5 ohm DCT with this thing. I realize that's probably part of my problem, but I want to be able to do it somehow!
