Take a look at the Subzero, while it's not really anything resembling a velocity style deck it is a two post deck with airflow that can be closed off entirely(with a screw). Now it is bottom airflow which may be something you're not accustomed to, some people don't like bottom airflow and some people once they use it like it so much they only use bottom airflow after that, I happen to really like bottom airflow so it caught my attention.

$10.24 Subzero Competition Styled RDA Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer - stainless steel / 22mm diameter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I've toyed around with buying the Subzero numerous times mostly for the fact that it is a two post deck with capability for single coil airflow, but alas I already have too many atomizers collecting dust to bother purchasing another.
If u havnt bought one yet i say go ahead i have two of these from fasttech and they are something different great flavor and clouds for days

I would, but I already own a dozen bottom airflow rda's...no need to add another one when eight of mine don't even see routine use.

I experienced degraded performance when I wrapped a single horizontal coil between the posts some time ago...this was most likely due to indirect airflow on the coil. I would rather set up a single horizontal coil using the traditional method (not in the center) even though the other side would lack a coil, but as mentioned in previous posts a vertical center coil is probably the best method for a single coil setup and it performs fine on my Velocity (Tobeco).

I also currently running single horizontal coil between the posts in my Bo'sun which has velocity style post. I was searching a bit on single coil and I found something on reddit which doesn't look like the safest thing to do but

Used wine cork to reduce the chamber on my Igo-L and RSST. • /r/electronic_cigarette

When I saw your Cork idea it reminded me of my Pulse-G RBA.

Personally I like the Subzero better then the Tsunami, Both meet your requirements. Stumpy is quite nice, So Horny is another but a bit pricy, and you'd end up with lots of wasted space.

A few more preferences would help narrow the field. Side airflow? Bottom? Lots of airflow? medium, Tight? I've got most of what has been mentioned so far, none would be a bad choice, but a few more preferences would help nail it down a bit more.

Yep. I build my Velocity Mini, Stumpy, and Vortice with a single horizontal coil between the posts. I'm pretty sure I won't win any cloud chasing contests with them but they all put out a very respectable (and satisfying) amount of vapor using a single 26ga .5 ohm 2.5mm Kanthal coil.
this is a terrific build! loving it on my grand LP
