In the fasttech pegasus the vent holes are nearly useless in the switch. I am not so bothered about the aesthetics of vent holes elsewhere on the mod. I think it would look quite good up & down actually. Baditude recommended vent holes being machined where the 18650 meets the 510 connection. Other vets disagreed (too near face). I agree. Would you recommend vent holes being machined anywhere else on the mod? Thanks

If you are using IMR batteries the battery doesn't vent violently.
It doesn't explode. The gasses build up inside the metal tube, the battery swells and the pressure causes the violent explosion.
Vents near the face wouldn't be a logical concern.
I've had a VTC 4 vent on me. Once removed, it was pretty tame.

Well , when "Badtitude" speaks people listen , it's just not a wise thing to disagree with someone named "Badtitude" imo . I would have no issues disagreeing with someone named " cudly bear" but Badtitude, no chance of that happening .

Don't be surprised if those other vets disappear for good where authorities fear the worst .

I seem too easily persuaded by everyone. I know he gives sound advice but it just seemed like common sense when the other vets told me that holes near the face isn't a great idea. only made sense when bwh79 explained briefly. I know that this much confusion about mechs should, and does, keep me well away from them. I just want to be more clear and safe for when that special day comes.

@Bad Ninja My memory. Damn. The main thing I wanted to ask was why did the battery vent? Thanks

I dropped the mod down a hill.
The magnets in the switch shattered and caused a constant-on situation.
It's also possible the battery wrap was damaged in the fall.

I still use the mod.
Yes, it's a mechanical.

there is no optimal place to place vent holes..... just use proper batteries and proper coil builds o_O

This is about as accurate as it gets.

Vent hole placement isn't as important as being aware of what's happening when you vape.

Use high quality, high drain batteries suited for the build you are using.
Give headroom with your builds.
Keep a close eye on the wrappers, contacts and understand how your mod actually works.
( I check my batteries for warmth several times during use, especially when using low resistance builds)
Using a mechanical is less dangerous than putting gasoline in an automobile, if you understand what you are doing.
