I've been doing some comparisons of all my big-battery PVs, and one thing I've noticed is how many have venting holes in case of battery issues. It seems that only two PVs have venting holes - the Silver Bullet and the Super-T. (At least out of all the ones I have...)

Has anyone considered the idea of drilling the Chuck to allow venting?

My thought was to drill a hole in the end cap, right through the center of the spring. I also plan on plugging this with some soft plastic to keep dirt out, but in a way that will release easily to prevent/reduce an issues should a battery have a major catastrophe.

Any ideas or thoughts? Especially from Jeff?

I've thought about it, but I haven't tried yet and more than likely I won't. I don't really see much of a need for me since I use protected batteries, and have been experimenting with LiFePo4's, both of which should never vent with flame, even when shorted. I can see where the unprotected CR123s could really be an issue though.

Fact: The most-recently purchased mod produces the most vapor.

Nice sig BTW:D

I get more air blowing thru my Chucks than any other mod I have...Hmm... The silver bullet was my biggest worry bc i get barely any air from blowing thru it but its so darn thick, and since its aircraft grade, I just dont think it will blow it to schrapnel. Just my .02 tho. I also use protected batts...well, for the most part ;)

The button will push up if a bad event should happen on the Silver Bullet. With the Chuck tho it's bolted on....

I hope I'm not the one that finds out what happens on the chuck.

One other thing to consider though. I don't know exactly how explosive a li-ion batt can be, but I've heard it can be pretty strong. By directing the force straight out the end cap, in the event your battery does vent w/ flame, you have effectively turned your Chuck into a rocket aimed down your throat.

If you were to put three holes 120 degrees apart in the tube or even around the end cap instead of in the end, you would eliminate any possible rocket effect. You might singe your hand a bit, but you wouldn't choke on your Chuck (that sounds so wrong, but hey...).
