VERY confused about my joyetech atomizer (??)

I purchased the joyetech eGo/eGO-T starter kit, which has two batteries, a clearomizer, and...an atomizer? (here's where the confusion begins). I've got the clearomizer sorted, and love it, but am confused about the atomizer. the kit came with 5 tips, which have something a lot like cotton stuffed up in them. when it was assembled for me at the store, miraculously the cotton found it's way into the atomizer, and I was instructed to put a few drops into the cotton piece. I've found that really burny and awful, and assume I must be doing something wrong. to put a new tip on involved digging the cotton piece out with a toothpick, which made a mess of it, although apparently they're reusable. and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the cotton from the new tip into the atomizer. I think there was some blowing into the tip involved.
i'm in Canada, and picked this up in the states in case you're wondering why I don't just go back to where I bought it and ask this question!
anyway...help?? and is this what's referred to as "dripping"...if I can ever figure it out?

when I put my cotton into my cartridge it doesn't directly touch the atomizer. I just watched a video on youtube of how someone explain to fill the cartridge to the tip and then did mine the same way! look up some vids! hope this helps.
