Very Disappointed with Vamo

I got my stainless steel Vamo today after looking everywhere to find one, and was very excited to play with it. I was pretty ...... to find the cap wasn't able to screw on to the 18350 connection meaning the unit is worthless to me without 18350 mode. It doesnt make sense to me that the extension tube fits the threading for the 18350 but the cap cant even turn once. I am very unhappy about the quality control from vamo. This sucks.

Wait, you are saying you can screw the extension tube on for 18650 and the bottom cap screws on okay?
But when you remove the extension tube, you cannot screw the bottom cap to the main tube?

Sounds like you are cross threading. All the threads are the same.

Also be sure to coat the threads with Nolax. It's made for electrical devices and keeps the threads from galding up and seizing.

Yeah, when the extension tube is off i cannot screw the bottom cap on to put it in single 18350 mode. the threading lets me get about a half turn then stops. I googled this problem and could only find one other instance of it.

Thanks for the advice, i'll be sure to do that. That won't help here though the factory just messed up the threading.

Please answer in order:
1)Does the extension tube screw fully on the body?
2)Does the Bottom Cap screw fully on the Extension tube?
3) was the unit fully assembled when received?
4) did each piece un-thread smoothly?

Yes to everything, but there is something wrong here and i'm not dumb enough to cross thread. I don't know if someone else did but all the pieces fit fine except those two. The unit came bubble wrapped with no packaging or instructions so I don't know what's going on. The cap is gritty screwing on to the extension tube but it does screw on just fine.

I had problems with my vamo threading also. After cleaning the threads and adding a little vaseline, I got it sorted. Smooth as can be now. Mine had alot of machining debris in the threads.

That is what I needed to hear. Gritty threading.
You need a tiny amount of fine lapping compound - auto parts store
Apply to the cap threads and lower tube threads.
Work the cap on/off to polish and smooth out the threading.
Do the same with the Tube extension to main tube.

You should be able to thread the cap on afterward. Once everything is threading smoothly, remove all traces of the compound, wipe clean and apply a few drops of light oil - 3-n-1

This should solve your problem and give you a nice smooth Vamo to enjoy.

Noalox LAST, it is only an anti seize and will not fix rough threading as many think. Only an abrasive can do that.

I use 18650's in my Vamos and don't even own a 18350. But all three of my Vamos have no problem when I took the 18650 extension tube out and screwed the cap directly into the Vamo body. I think crxess has it right.

I'm just going to return it for a new one, I don't want to mess with it more than I have. I don't have money to spend on compounds to try to fix this problem and by the time the compound got here I could probably just have a new ecig. My battery spring is not the bronze/gold color, does that mean it isn't a v2?

Noalox is something you need to use whether you have a problem or not.

I have the same problem as the op. I'll try the suggestions made here. It did seem quite strange the extension tube fit fine and the end cap fit on the extension tube ok but not the main body in shorty mode....the threads do look a little messy inside the end cap.
