As in, I've only had it for about 4 hours, and it only charged about 20 minutes ago, so this is the very first impression!

I am starting with the .5 coil, which is perhaps the not smartest, considering that I'm coming to it from a vape pen (EMOW). I'm still debating switching it out with the 1.5 coil.

That said, vapor is awesome. But for me, WAY too much air! And right now, I feel like a lot of it is the huge drip tip, compared to the one I am used to that clocks in at about half the diameter.

So for right now, I've switched out the drip tips, and it makes a difference. Draw is still way easier than what I am used to, but more in line with it.

I think I am going to switch out to the 1.5 and see if that provides a more subtle improvement for me, if that makes sense!

Yee the 1.5m ohm coil head will be a tighter draw. Have you also tried closing off the airflow a bit?

I like a wide open draw since I usually straight lung hit. :D

You may want to turn your airflow setting down fairly low so that the draw is not so easy.....yeah I remember when I started sucking on my first larger tank system...it felt like I was sucking on a giant hose... You will get used to it, especially if you place a smaller drip tip onto the tank. Have fun with it :)

After playing with it quite a bit last night (and probably way too much vaping), I think I've hit a sweet spot for right now.

I've got the 1.5 coil in, airflow on the middle option, and about 18W. I'm using the smaller diameter drip tip from my EMOW for now, but I'm going to try to get used to the larger one.

Of course this morning I discovered that my lovely pear juice doesn't pair well with coffee!

The first thing I did when I got my subtank mini's was to change out the drip tip for the smaller one. Months later and I still prefer it and the tight draw (same setting as you use) for mouth to lung. Drip tips are cheap if you shop for them. I look every time I order something online, just adds a couple dollars to the order. Relax and enjoy the journey.

I too just bought a subox mini yesterday. I only mouth-to-lung so I've only used the 1.5ohm coil, airflow on smallest setting, and with 90% vg juice, 12mg nic.
I've found my sweet spot to be 16w. Anything above 18w gives burnt taste and 16 gives me a little more flavour. I wasn't a fan of the drip tip at first but it's growing on me. I love the look of the subox kit too much to swap it out yet lol

Awesome Job! Sounds like you are properly dialing the thing in for a good vape experience :)

I enjoy using the subox kits. I am D2L inhaler so I like the .5s (but now that I can fire down to .3, as opposed to .4 with the KBOX, I rebuild the OG OCCs btw .3 and .4 Ohm), but it took my SO some trial and error to get what she likes. She prefers M2L and wasn't a fan of the .5s, except at the lowest airflow setting. So I put in the 1.5 (1.7 really) VOCC and dialed it down to 14.7w and she is in vape heaven with the airflow on the 2nd setting. glad to hear you have found yours! Have you looked at the new NANO Suboxes? Pink and Purple? I know I wont hear the end of it from my SO until I get her one:p

Are you rebuilding the verticals or horizontal OCC's? Can the verticals be rebuilt with a horizontal coil?

I picked up a 5-pack of the 1.5s yesterday and at $25/pack I think I'm going to try rebuilding sooner than later. Don't want anything fancy just 1.2-1.8 ohm would suit me fine, but the ones I bought are vertical, curious if I can put a horizontal coil on them...
The RBA would probably be easier, but would be nice to be able to rebuild and wick 4-5 heads at a sitting for me than the 1 RBA whenever required.

i rebuild the old horizontal coil heads with vertical coils - imo, much better performance than horizontal, on the kanger

rebuilt 4 vertical Ni200 coils (.15 ohm) and 2 vertical kanthal (dual parallel, .7 ohm) coils this morning - i agree - easier to do several at a go

I am rebuilding the horizontal style OCCs. The vertical coil heads can be rebuilt but they changed the coil head for the verts. The new head separates at the base by forcing the bottom out. It has a sort of sleeve that the vert coil and wick fit into. I haven't rebuilt one yet, though someone does a good job of showing us how here on ECF (sorry can't remember the username now but easily searchable).

**edit: found one of the links -

How to re-build on the NEW Kangertech Vertical Coil head !! | E-Cigarette Forum

Check it out and turn those overpriced throwaways into cheap RBAs!

Anyone else have juice getting into the airflow and gurgling after every refill? The thing is flawless otherwise, but after each refill no matter how careful I am it happens. Gurgles and juice seeps out the airflow and I have to blow it out into a towel and use q-tips to get the juice out of the center tube.

As for he juice in the base, I will regularly unscrew the tank and run the thing under hot water for a bit then blow out as much water as possible into a towel. I'll then take a paper towel and twist the corners and go through all the openings. This will clean out the base until the juice overflows inside the coil head again. I dry pull (no fire inhale) sometimes a little too hard and it will flood.
Also, when you have the base off, be careful and use a twisted piece of paper towel and clean the chimney. Sometimes juice will build at the bottom where it meets the top of the coil head.

this was the first 'serious' tank I started with and still one of my favourites for a 'carry round' set up, going out etc, but it works really well with the newer rba coil, I have a 0.3ohm in mine, air wide open and the big drip tip it came with, the flavour you get with a direct lung hit is awesome, but I know what you mean, when i first got it I did mouth to lung and it just felt wrong so I started to 'chong' it, never looked back :) nice, well made piece of kit, enjoy it ;)

I've been enjoying my Subox mini for just over a week now and I love it. That being said, I definitely enjoy straight lung hits. I wasnt sure how I felt about the warm sub ohm vape initially but it grew on me. I think it also depends on the juice. I'm thinking about getting a wrap or a sleeve for mine, I just like how it looks on its own too much.
