I am having a strange issue with my Blu cigs, and wondered if I am doing something wrong or if others are having the same problem. Here is what’s happening.

I pick up my Blu cig and take a drag. The first drag is great. It’s easy to pull, fires up right away, and produces a lot of vapor. I can feel it in my throat and I can feel it filling my lungs. I hold it for a few seconds and then exhale. I see lots of vapor and it feels great! Easy drag, lots of vapor, very nice!

Then the second drag….nothing. Well I shouldn’t say nothing, it more like almost nothing. I see a little bit of vapor, but don’t really feel it. So I take another drag, and this time I pull really really hard for like 20 seconds straight, and then exhale right away to see what I got. Barely anything….

I put it down, walk away, and come back in an hour. I pick it back up and the first drag is awesome! Lots of vapor, easy pull, great hit. Second drag, nothing again. I put it down for another hour, come back. First hit is perfect, second hit nothing. Third hit nothing. Fourth hit nothing.

Now, I can’t imagine you are only supposed to take one hit per hour on these things! Am I doing something wrong? I have two batteries and two attys. I tried both batteries and made sure both were fully charged. I tried each atty with each battery. Same results. I have tried many different cartridges with each atty/battery setup. Same results. I was thinking that both attys might be defective, but if that is the case, why do they work SO well on the first hit after an hour of non-use?

I would absolutely love these things if every hit was like the first! Did I get defective ones? Did I just get what I paid for, and maybe I should get one of the $150 e-cigs? Is anybody else having this problem? Sorry for the long post – any help or advice will be greatly appreciated! :)

You bought an ecig that sucks and was overpriced. Buy a 801 or 901 kit ($17 from the link in my cig, or around $27 from Best E-smoking Shop). It's a workhorse and Ruyan offers a 1 year warranty on the parts. Just remember that unless you're ordering Johnson Creek juice or a mod, you can get it directly from a China supplier for probably 20-40% of what US middlemen try to charge you.

Is is possible that the cartridges are just not wicking quick enough to the atty? You might want to make sure that they are fully saturated. Sorry I can't be of more help but, I'm not familiar with the model.

I was thinking the same thing, but I have followed all the directions and I believe I am using these properly....I don't know why I would be encountering this problem except for maybe these BLU cigs just don't work that well....

    Hello Maximo:

As other's have stated your cartridges are too dry. Who knows why? Get a bottle of liquid and top them up.

I don't own the B--, nor would I reccomend them. But since you have already purchased it you might as well try to make it work. Before you purchase another PV please do your research on this form. Then you will be assured you have made a reasonable choice for yourself.

Good luck to you, and welcome to ECF.

If you use the dipping or dripping method you can get consistent hits with the Blu. Unfortunately the fluid just doesn't seem to wick into the atomizer quickly enough if you are just using the carts the way they come from Blu... :(

You might try refilling the carts with some polyester batting material from a place like JoAnn Fabric, or some fish tank air pump filter material, and make sure it isn't too tightly or too loosely packed and reaches the bottom of the cart. That way it won't get pushed back, away from the atomizer wick. I believe that's the reason the carts aren't allowing consistent vapor and aren't being drained effectively ;)

Agnes and Nikko - thank you for your replies. I might try your suggestions Nikko, but I might try getting another model e-cig too. I guess I should have done more research. After spending all day on these forums, it seems like M402 might be a good one for me, and I'll definitely be getting my own liquid to refill the carts myself. When I bought from BLU, I went into it knowing that they might not be the best quality based on the price, so I don't feel too burnt. But I think i'll try some other brands...

i had the same problem with the blu carts. they do not have enough stuffing in them. at least that is how it seemed to me. the filler gets pushed down really easy and does not always connect like it should.

I did not know the cartridge filler was not long enough as Dark Angel said. You could try to lift it up to the edge of the cart with tweesers or toothpick or paperclip to see if it helps. If you find that is the problem, do as some of the others suggested and restuff the cartridges then refill with liquid. Hope you figure it out.

    Best to you.

I guess the hypnotic trance that the makers of Blu put customers in to make them buy the product does not extend to continuing to love it after they get it in their hands.

They need to work on that.

Hey, just wanted to add my two cents. I also bought from Blu and was frustrated after the extraordinarily long wait. When I started mine up the first time I had the same experience, first hit was great, next one sucked. I'm convinced that it is due to the shoddy cart design. I noticed that if I left the cig alone for a couple minutes between puffs I could still get decent vapor, but still not good. The cart is simply too small and doesn't wick well at all.

My resolve to this problem was to try dripping/dipping. I got some juice from Johnson Creek and started just dripping (2-3 drops directly on atty is enough) and using an empty mouthpiece. (just push the cart out with a paperclip, or use one of the already empty ones) The result was epic! With the Tennesee Cured 24mg juice from JC I got amazing vapor and a great throat hit.

I know its not ideal because its not as convenient as carts would be, but at least its not a waste of money. I have a couple other PV's now (pipe, 801, 901) but I still use the blu periodically, especially if I'm just trying new flavors.

If you are worried about wasting the carts (as I was), I've found that you can extract the juice by pulling the wet stuffing out and squeezing the juice out with a syringe. Just take all the stuffings out and do one flavor at a time. For example, put all the CherryCrush stuffing's into a syringe and squeeze all the juice into a bottle and you can use it for dripping. You can taste it more this way too!

    Hope that helped...

all you have to do is pop a cartridge on twist it a few times take it off and that aluminum foil stuff will be on the atomizer take it off and get rid of it pop the cart back on and warm up the atomizer and it works fine. three slow drags on the first try warms it up pretty good

what bowchicachica said. It helps alot out of the box. Also, when you do get around to getting your own juice, refill your carts using the lipton teabag method, works WONDERS! Or you could simply hold the blucig horizontally (blu uses an automatic battery, simply dripping traditionally may potentially kill your battery), let the juice bead from the bottle and touch the atomizer, repeat 2 or 3 times and you're good money. I have a blu and absolutely love it now using those methods. Despite the naysayers and the bad press, the blu is NOT a horrible product. I do agree that the stock cartridges are hit and miss, once you try these methods your opinion on the blu will change, as mine did.

For someone trying to closely replicate analog smoking, Blu works great. But I had the exact same problem.. the constant failures after one good puff. To make things worse, I initially liked it so much I was in the throes of quitting analogs when it started failing. 8-o

To keep from going back to analogs I ordered another model e-cig, a 401, and that did the trick. Later I switched to a 510 and am a happy old gal now.

I still have a stash of Blu effluvia, but between the 510 and 401 I feel no need to try it again. If I did, however, I would dip the atomizer rather than refill those tiny carts. But, most e-cig beginners seem to want pre-filled carts and a size most like an analog. I felt that way in the beginning, too.

Pity, the PCC and packaging of Blu is really nice and the tiny size is great for someone who wants that analog feel to their e-cig. But their horrid customer service and snail-like shipping was all it took for me to try other models.

Based on my own experience, I suggest dipping or switching to another model. Your mileage may vary.

How are two batts, two attys, a pcc, and 25 carts to start over priced for $59.95? I've never had a problem with my Blu. Customer service is bad, but thats where volcanocigs comes in!!

One thing that I just found out about blu carts is that the inner juice holders arent the same sizes. I got johnson creek juice and have started dripping at home, but still using carts on the go and at work. One thing that actually blu customer service told me to do is to "pack" the blu cig lightly with the LED side down. It helps the atomizer wick.

On a side note, has anyone had the blue foam work with the blu? I tried tonight with no success, just eventually a mouth full of ejuice...yuk! Thanks!

I plan on trying a blue foam mod once my juice comes in the mail. Been thinking of the dart version but i dont think the inner cart is big enough to need the capilary action of the straw, maybe just a plug. Which method did you try cappy?

Um I dont know all the technical terms, but i just tried to replace the poly fiber stuff with the foam and it didnt work. I might be over filling or using too big of a piece of blue foam, but it didnt work. I'm still dripping for the most part and praying i dont fry an atty doing it, but it's the only way I'm still avoiding smoking analog....for the most part. :) I enjoy dripping cuz it give consistent hits which each drip equals about 10-12 great when having conversation in the smoke pit at work ;) Bosses wont let me vape!

I just did the blue foam mod to my Blu. Make sure none sticks out over the cartridge. Is working like a charm for mine! The foam seems to make it hold more too. I was using the tea bag mod and could only refill the cart with 4-5 drops. Now I can get about 8 in there. I fill mine to just below the rim. The blue foam has also greatly reduced getting the juice in my mouth. Blech!

Are you talking about not letting it stick out past the inner cart or the whole cart itself? I figure i might be doing something! Any help is much appreciated. I figure i just waisted 9 bucks on these filters that dont fit anything i got :p
