So I have had the ZAP for about a week now and have just not had the OMG moment with taste and overall vapor.

I have read so much about various tips, tricks, etc. and have created a very good coil. My only problem right now is the wicking issues with very very thick VG juice.

I tossed the stock wicks that came with the ZAP and bought myself some 500 ss mesh based on reviews in regards to wicking, etc. So far the 500 ss mesh has not wicked any better than 400 or even 325.

The stock insulator that is in the ZAP in my opinion is completely useless (I know it helps prevent shorts). But honestly you can get so much more wick in there without it.

I am going to try to stick some thicker rolled wick in there this weekend and see how that goes. But so far my carto tanks are winning in terms of flavor and vapor production.

Does anyone have experience with RBA's and very very thick VG juice? I have to tilt like crazy to even get it to wick and even then the flavor is nothing outstanding. Btw, I am using 32 g kanthal wrapped at about 1.8 ohm and 500 ss mesh.

I mix my vg liquid so the water and flavoring = 22 percent and no problems wicking with 400 or 500 in my silver dog genesis. If you make wick solid it will not wick very well and disapates heat too fast. I agree about the insulator. In the end I stopped using my zenesis (bad design IMOP). maybe thinning juice will help?

I currently use thick 100% vg. I don't use a zenesis, but i do use genesis attys. I'm currently set up at 30awg kanthal and 400 ss mesh solid wick. I had some wicking issues until I stopped over oxidating my wicks. I do a quick burn on both sides of the mesh before rolling, and heat the wick red once after rolling. My wicking issues are much better now. Solid wicks wick better for me than hollow or loose wicks.

I have used only 32 gauge 3/4 and 4/5 wraps and twist 4/5 ,5/6 with 400 and 325 solid and hollow wicks. With all of theses set ups my Zen's (6) all seem to over wick juice runs out of the air hole. I do think a solid wick stays hotter, if you heat a hollow tube it Cools quicker, heat sink effect. It seems opinions and experiences hit all over the spectrum. I was looking for help with over wicking with 100% VG and found others can't get it to wick

Let me tell you, I struggled with this to NO end when I first got into RBA''s and SS wicks. What ultimately fixed it (without changing my juice) was using 100mm+ of SS mesh. I bored the wick holes out on my AGA's to 3.5mm and stuffed a TON of wick in there. It is the only way I can use my thick juices and get good flavor aka a wet wick.

My personal setup is #500 Mesh 1.5"x3.0" rolled as tight as I can get it til it barely fits into a stock AGA wick hole, then rolled a tiny bit tighter after that to make sure the wick doesn't choke. I have a VV device so I use 30awg 4/5 for a 1.4ohm coil. This helps increase response time. I drilled out my air hole to 1/16th (1.58mm) but 1.0-1.2mm air holes work just as well without being too airy. I personally take slower draws so my wattage is set to about 10-11. My partner has an identical setup and she takes even slower draws, she vapes at 8-9 watts.

If you're using a mechanical mod you can and should use 28awg 3/4 or 4/5 for 0.8-1.0 ohms. Above 1 ohm most mechanicals will be kinda weak unless using a kick, but a kick kind of negates the whole idea of a mechanical.

Edit- Forgot to mention we're vaping 75%VG/25%PG+Inert currently, but the setup has handled up to 90%VG/10%PG+Inert with no issues as well. Inert being Nic+Flavor.
