Personally, I would only use USP/food grade VG....if it doesn't specifically say it, I'm not going to assume that it is. This particular one looks like it is intended for cosmetic use (read: topical) so it may not be filtered as much as USP VG and I'm not sure that I would want to risk inhaling it. Just my 2 cents.

Yes...it does say it's food grade - that's why I thought it'd be safe - little bit of savings compared to shoppers...but I didn't purchase it -
Shoppers had a recall recently, although ours still had it shelved, I wasn't happy with the bottle I had at home so I tossed it. It was USP. The nice thing about making your own juice, is you know what is in it. One change and you can name the culprit. In my case it was the Life brand VG. I further recommend you start hanging around the DIY section vice here, if you plan on DIY. They don't bite :)

I too would not use a non "usp" product, but now find myself sitting here holding a 250ml.
bottle of life brand glycerin with an expiry date of june/13, the same date as the fellow in the
DIY thread that tossed it. The recall was prior to Nov. of last year. Surely by Feb. of 2012
sdm would have restocked with new stuff, no?

I've used only 1mil. of it in one of my vanilla mixes, so far, without issue.

Not sick yet but don't wanna be either!

cardiackid --I have been using Now VG for months and it is very good--and 473 ml for $12!. I did my research online(on ECF and other sites) and talked to the folks at the health food store that I bought it at--people use this stuff in smoothies, ice cream making and baking--that sold me!Here is a message from the founder of "Now" from another thread on ECF...
A Message from NOW Foods Founder, Elwood Richard
"The proof of NOW quality rests in our adherence to excellent manufacturing processes. We are a GMP and organic certified manufacturer. We are also kosher certified by the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America. We support not-for-profit organizations such as Citizens for Health and DSEA (Dietary Supplement Education Alliance) whose mission is to educate the public on the benefits of natural products, for our bodies and our environment."
Here is a link with customer reviews--I really don't think you have to worry about using "Now" vg--they are very well respected in the natural products community.
