Hey everyone, I've been vaping now for 3 weeks and have managed to reduce analog cigs from 5 to 3 a day. Not much will you say? well I've been doing this for a LONG time.
Here's the deal, started off with a 510 unit and PG only e-juice and I would get puffy eyes, they were dry, felt congested and I was getting headaches after 8 or 9 puffs...Decided to try out VG only juice, better news, eyes seem better BUT still getting headaches but maybe not as strong but still bothersome. I am also getting some stomach upset/queasyness with the VG. Here's my hypothesis: COULD it be that some vendors put small amounts of nicotine in their mix EVEN THOUGH you do not ask for some?...HOW are we supposed to trust vendors??!...for keeping it "O NIC" if that's what we want? (Afterall, getting us really hooked would be to THEIR advantage, right?!)

I would like to hear your experiences with side effects, headaches, etc...and about the nicotine theory.
But don't get me wrong, I don't plan to stop vaping, I love it.

Thanks!

Mario

Are you using 0mg nic eliquid?

If you're still smoking, there's a good chance that IF the eliquid you use has any nicotine in it, you're getting too large of a dose for your system to handle (a mild overdose).

However, I wouldn't recommend trying to quit analogs with 0mg nic. That would be asking for a relapse back to cigarettes, at least in my experience. Try a medium-strength eliquid, say 12-18mg, and use it as often as you would normally smoke cigarettes- See if quitting cigs entirely helps first. Also, I read somewhere that headaches can sometimes be from quitting smoking. your body may also be adjusting to vaping.

If you are off cigarettes completely for a week or more, and still vaping, the symptoms should subside. If they don't try continuing experimenting with different nic levels, pg/vg ratios, etc. and see what works best for you. Good luck and Welcome!

Edit: also, consider consulting with your doctor if it doesn't go away! I can't believe I forgot to mention that!

Dear j4mmin42, I have never used any Nicotine in my E-Liquids thus far. At least not to my knowledge unless the 2 vendors that I have bough the E-liquid from have added a few miligrams in there just to keep their clients hooked...but that's only MY opinion. I ONLY get headaches WHEN I vape. Thanks for your feedback! :)

Another piece of advice: Drink More Water. That may help out a lot too. And don't go overboard with alcohol while vaping, as they both dry out your body.

ALL great advice. In fact after I read your comment about adding some NIC in my juice, well after 3 weeks of hard vaping on "O NIC" juices, I decided to add a Virginia blend/ 100% VG with only 5 mg of Nicotine in it but BOY what a difference!!. I am lovin it so much more and haven't even smoked tonight. Actually in the past 3 weeks I've gone from 5-6 analogs a day to 2 analogs. Doing great. You were quite right, a bit of nicotine in the liquid does help and drink lot's of water! The only thing now, is when I stop analog cigarettes for good, I will probably want to continue vaping with my 5 mg...:?:

Good point, well switching to pure VG is doing me a lot better! Thanks for the tip! :)

Try just vaping pure glycerin and see what happens. It might be an ingredient in the flavor that's doing it to you. A lot of alcohol in a formula makes me a little foggy/headache feeling. Even when I was a drinker it got me.

Good evening j4mmin42!

Hey, thanks for asking! YES!! I am doing much better tonight. I'm not sure if it's because I've totally switched to pure VG and or that I've been only vaping with this pure Virginia blend 100% VG and 5mg of nic since last night...I'm in heaven! ;-) NO headaches, and don't feel like smoking the analogs. Yes, If I plan to be vaping more, I don't think I'll be able to stay on 5 mg nic?...i would hae to use straight pure E-juice, right? or a combo of both maybe? :)

Good for you! Glad to hear you're feeling better. Nicotine isn't exactly organic spinach, but absolutely nothing is any worse for you than an analog. So, stop smoking, and then just take it as it comes. If you need to use a little nicotine, and that helps- great. Do what works, and makes you happy.

There are some who do no-nic, but there are a lot of long term vapers who continue to use nicotine for years. Just figure out how to ditch the stinkies, and then go from there. One step at a time.

I have never gone to 100% 0 nic. I was a PAD smoker for 8 years, though. But in any case I barely notice a nic rush at 12mg right now...and I basically chain-vape (it's hard not to when you placed 8 orders, and won a contest for a 9th, AND got a free sample order of juice... hehee). May not be the same as quitting entirely, but here at ecf we're all about harm reduction- and I certainly feel like ANY amount of vaping is better than smoking analogs.

Glad to hear you're feeling better, keep up the good work!

Dear Suzies Mom, Excellent advice: "nothing is any worse for you than an analog"

Yes, I am using 5 mg nicotine in only one of my VG mix. All the other 5 VG bottles that I have are "0 NIC", But honestly I NEED a nicotine hit. I am wondering if taking 10 or so vapes from my e-cig with 5mg nicotine equals an analog cigarette? I don't want to overdose... ;-) On a pack of cigarettes that I usually smoke, it says: 1.8 to 2.8mg of nicotine per cigarette. I guess 5mg of nic in the juice is probably a little more and good enough? I am trying to find a balance. FYI. I was smoking 5 to 6 cigarettes a day for the past few years. Maybe not much you will say, BUT I was nevertheless pretty hooked!

YOU: "There are some who do no-nic, but there are a lot of long term vapers who continue to use nicotine for years. Just figure out how to ditch the stinkies, and then go from there. One step at a time." ME: I love this! :)

Hi j4mmin42! Sure sounds like you are vaping quite a bit :vapor:. 2 questions for you: 1) What does "PAD" mean? and 2) If you barely feel a nicotine rush at 12mg...could this mean that your body as become accustomed to this level of NIC mg?. Is there a tendency for ex smokers to become like really hooked to vaping? But like you said, "ANY amount of vaping is better than smoking analogs".
(just trying to understand and learn more about this vaping venture).
