It doesn't matter what ratio you use on an rda, that is one of the nice things about them. If you are unsure, go with 50/50 then adjust on future purchases if necessary. My preferred ratio is 60/40 PG/VG. I started out with 70/30, then tried 80/20, then 50/50, then 40/60, then settled in on 60/40 for my ideal combo of smoothness, flavor, and wicking ease. 70/30 is also fine if that's all the vendor offers. I've had good 100% VG juices too, but they are tough to wick properly with some equipment. 80/20 makes me feel kinda sick, scratchy throat, and dried out.

The basics:

100 PG would give the most throat hit and the least vapor. Going too far in that direction though can make things too harsh for some people.

100 VG gives the most vapor at the expense of throat hit. If you want to see those clouds you want high VG liquids.

Flavors tend to not be as sharp in high VG liquids as they are in high PG.

PG is very thin, like water. VG varies in thickness and some of it can be downright gloppy. Either one can present problems depending on your delivery device. Cartos are easy to fill with thin PG liquids, getting a carto well saturated with VG can be a problem. In an rda this should be a non issue.

If you aren't sure what your preference is yet it might be a good idea to split the difference on this order and get some 50/50 blends. Slide the PG/VG ratio in either direction depending on what you like or dislike from there.

I only use 100% VG in my cartos :) It works the best for me in those, but this conversation is about RDAs.

Land0Calrissian: If you're fresh off cigs or still smoking high PG ratios are your friend. That is if you can tolerate them. You get a stronger throat hit, and more flavor.

I dunno, I don't think PG really influences "throat hit". You certainly feel something in your throat from it, but I would consider it "harshness" at best and "scratchiness" at worst. Some may consider this "throat hit", I guess. To me, throat hit that is more like a solid "thump" which doesn't linger for long comes from nicotine content. A little harshness can be pleasing though, as I feel like it can compliment the nicotine "thump" as long as it is fairly mild. That's my thought on it anyway.

PG definitely transmits flavor better though, which is why more flavoring needs to be added as VG% increases.
