Some of you may have noticed I haven't been all that happy with the vape I've been getting off the genisis. I've tried just about everything and then some. I ended up with something today, though, that meets every criterion I have for a good, no a GREAT genisis vape. I finally got sufficiently quick wicking to satisfy my .6Ω happy spot; but without sacrificing flavor (like a super fat solid wick does). I'm tasting nothing but juice. I'm doing one PBusardo style vape after the next (7-8 sec button push). The wikicoil is responsive and fast. The vapor is thick and full. The throat hit is solid, deep and round (but not taking center stage). Jasl90 & Super_X_Drifter's condensed coil plays a role; its almost an eighth inch wick, but the wraps are stacked tight (26 Nichrome). This is popping the flavor and bringing the kick in response time. My visits to Shortyjacob's thread have given me funny wick ideas (the space between the wire rope strands). I've got no more than a square 1 1/2" of 500 ss in this wick; but it pulls all the juice I can demand. I'm calling it "The Cannon" because of the rifling of the wick and the way it knocks me on my ___. So, I'm a happy vaper today, and I wanna thank all you ECF_ers for all the stuff I've learned from you and all the innovative thinking that is shared on this here forum.

edit: oh, yeah, and Hildicat's great tutorial, which helped me immensely on my first rba coils!

Sorry guys. I was working on the next version. Which I can't help but call "OH MY GOD!" I'll take some pics and process/post those in a bit. (I'm very excited!) So, I took my micro-wicks and Shortyjacob's wire rope idea, and made stainless steel mesh tube rope. The capillary action of the spaces between the tubes is amazing. Add to this the densely compacted coils, and voila!

Ok, so here's version 1.7, The "Oh My God" version. Same thing, but 7 strands of wick. Had to try it, assuming it wasn't worth the trouble. IT IS TOTALLY WORTH THE TROUBLE! Calling this the best vape I ever had would be like calling the Pope a nice guy, like calling Bo Derek cute, like saying childbirth is gonna hurt a little. I guarantee you (not really, YMMV) that if you build this and vape it; you will find your pants on the floor due to the extremely explosive nature of cr♪p♫♣ng them!

Wow. Brilliant. I haven't jumped on the stainless cable bandwagon because of concerns about manufacturing residues on the cable. This is _______________ brilliant. I feel a bit ......ed for not thinking of it. I think I might leave work early so I can go home and try it.

pdib - it looks like you may have rolled the individual mesh pieces on a diagonal? Please confirm or deny. I'm also interested in the dimensions of the individual pieces of mesh that you used.

3 strand rope is 1/2" wide mesh (yes, on the diagonal) x 3"; netting 1/16" thick strands. (3" is to hold the ends and twist your "cable" while you torch it to keep it's shape).

7 strand rope 3/16-1/4" wide pieces, to yield ~1/32" strand and 3/32-1/8" wick. (3 pieces of strand, side by side will tell you final diameter of wick)

When you twist and torch, you can feel how much to twist. tight enough for max twist, but don't collapse the tubes.

So straw type wicks, cut diagonal....got it.I'm going to try a few crazies out myself as soon as my mesh gets in, going to have to try solid rolled wicks as well.

one thing I want to mention is that this wick is designed to maximize capillary action; therefore it relies on it more, say, than the wicks we are all used to. Short story, if my device is left to sit for a while, I find that a couple of normal/shorter toots are good to get the juice back up into the wick. Not "throwaway"primer puffs, mind you, just not 8 second monster draws either.
