OK, I just started using Google Video, and now there's a notice up that they'll be discontinuing GV in a few months. :grr:

Now, I am tired of the 10 minute time limit for Youtube, so at the least, I need to figure out WHY I have a 10 minute time limit when I see people with 20 mintute, 30 min, 40 min videos all the time. How can I get my limit raised? Does anyone know?

Or, I have my own domain and plenty of storage space available on my host, but I can't seem to figure out how to post the videos directly on my blog. Only images. DOes anyone know how to do that in Wordpress?

I am definitely not the master of my web.

The best thing to do is find a good video hosting for long videos because this way you can save A LOT of bandwidth, maybe you can use a service like USTREAM.TV: LIVE VIDEO Streaming, Free Video Chat Rooms. Watch Shows & Broadcast Live TV, stream videos, web podcasts. Live streaming videos and webcam chat to record the video you need to do it LIVE and can't be edited but you can record your live stream and then post the code of the video just like YouTube, there is no time limit with that service, also you can do a LIVE show ;)

If you decide to host your videos in your server, you need to transcode the video first to FLV format, then upload it and use a wordpress plugin to post it.

To transcode your video you can use this program: Catch all your videos... | aTube Catcher Official Web Site this program also allows you to download videos from youtube and other video sharing sites, you can search the net to find out how to configure it to transcode your videos to FLV.

Once you have the video on FLV format you can install this plugin in your wordpress to post it: WordPress › AFC FLV-Player WordPress Plugins

That puglin allows you to upload the video and post it but some host restringed the upload of file up to 2MB only, so, if your transcoded video is bigger than that you need to upload it via FTP and then use the plugin to post it.

Maybe others can give you a better program to transcode the videos, but now that I think about it, a LIVE show of your reviews will be awsome, you can take input live of the users watching because on USTREAM.TV: LIVE VIDEO Streaming, Free Video Chat Rooms. Watch Shows & Broadcast Live TV, stream videos, web podcasts. Live streaming videos and webcam chat they give you a chat that you can insert in your site, and you can record the review for insert it later in your site.

Hope this help.

I can't hook my camcorder direct to the PC, so that live hosting thing won't work for me.

The plug in and transcoder are perfect, though! But bandwidth is an issue I hadn't considered, only storage. Maybe I do need a hosting site. I can try it out, and see how it goes.

And I'm pretty sure both Google and Yahoo have paid video hosting services. Can't be too pricey. I'll look into that when the free google video ends.

From the forum:

"The only people who can exceed the limit of 10:59 are Partners, and those with
active Director accounts created prior to 2007. All others play by the
rules."

YouTube Blog - UK

"However, we also recognize that there are legit content creators out there who may have videos over 10 mins, so we've created a Premium Content Program for those of you with professional-produced videos.

What about the little guys you ask? We hear ya. We know that although most users are uploading short form clips, there are those of you out there that are video bloggers or amateur film makers that have legitimate, user generated content over 10 mins, and obviously, this is not an ideal situation for you. We recognize that, and we're actively working on a solution that will allow for those of you with longer form user generated content, while still preventing copyrighted full length episodes from entering the system. In fact, if you are a user with videos over 10 mins, please contact us. We want to hear from you. We want to know how you've been impacted by this change and any thoughts or ideas you may have."
