What I've found is that generally each new method seems to work great the first time around and then things start going wrong. Or such precision is needed when swapping out the cart stuffing that it soon becomes irritating. This is not saying anything about some of the great ideas from here because I've tried a zillion things myself.
My new thing right now is the Buff Puff pad used to clean your face from WalMart. It's stiff enough to not squash down.
Start by cutting a long strip of tea bag material---looks kind of like a long ribbon. Center over the cart opening and push the middle down in the cart so it covers the bottom and the sides. The strip should be long enough so there is excess on each end.
Cut a piece from the Buff Puff pad and insert. Leave enough space at the top to fold the excess tea bag ribbon back and forth. This seems to stop leakage and can be moved around to completely fill the space left between the Buff Puff filler and the atty. The tea bag also eliminates stray strings and any poly type stuff from touching the atty---a biggie with me.
Unfolding the folds will make it easy to use one end to pull the cart filler out.
I loaded four carts Saturday or Sunday and have been rotating them during the day. Once the vapor starts decreasing, I drop a few drops of liquid in the cart and then let it sit until it's that carts turn again.
No, I do not take the cart filler out each time to reload.
I’ll probably take out the Buff Puff material and tea bag ribbon so I can clean all this weekend. Since I use a bit of vodka in the mix, it's probably fine.
This method seems to work on my mini carts and super mini carts and so far there’s been no sagging of the filler. It’s also seems to be a good no fuss no mess way to do things and that is a biggie for me.

Has anyone tried using analog cigarette filters [marlboro, winston, philip morris, etc] as cart fillers?

They're easily available, absorbent, and easy to work with.

Yes, I did. I used to roll my own cigs (tubes)...forget the name.
Worked ok, but the material is to dense. You could spend the time "undensing" it, but that is work. In which case you might as well do the teabag mod.
