In your intros, if you must play annoying music, and/or show us the results of your weekend using Final Cut, can you at least keep it check? I understand trying to "brand" yourself if you have a channel or are a reseller. But I just sat through one review where it took a full 40 seconds of crappy tunes and hack-job splash edits before he actually started speaking.

In my opinion 3 or 4 seconds of a hook and a logo is most effective (for e-cig reviews or anything). Much more and it just gets distracting.

Rant over. Sorry, just spent an hour or so watching reviews on various things. Some of you guys... sheesh.

I am a fan of PBusardo's approach - always a memorable, short opening and straight to the meat of the review in clear, concise terms - speaking clearly and articulately with good production values.

Pet hates: reviewers who mumble, cameras that haven't had the auto-focus switch off and constantly try to adjust themselves, crappy lighting.

Glad you posted this - I definitely have some stuff to add...

Here's my advice to some video reviewers:

1 You are going to be viewed by many thousands of people, so please put some effort into your attire/look/whatever. The last video I saw the guy looked like a crack addict. I just minimized my browser and listened to his review.

2. Do try getting better lighting.:) Especially if you're shooting in full HD.

3. Scripts help actors and so they should help you. :2cool: Instead of saying it "rocks" tell us why it rocks.

4. Not everyone likes your favorite heavy metal/death band intro music. I'm not saying to play Mozart, but think of something else por favor.
That's all I can think of right now.

Agreed with this one. I love PBusardo's reviews for that little short memorable intro and that he gets straight to the point, but still describing in good detail what he's reviewing.

Another one I hate: When the audio is so low and the person speaks so quietly that I have to blast my speakers to even sort of understand them. And then I go to watch something else and my ears get blown out because I forgot to turn them down from the last video.

You mean I shouldn't do this? :)

FWIW, I've been compiling a list of "Vaping Video Memes" that I fully intend to... have fun with?... somewhere down the line (providing it can be done without directly insulting some otherwise great reviewers). :)

Vapian, that was hilarious, seriously looking forward to more! Thanks!!

Back OT, I agree with some of the points made here, but for the most part I appreciate the time they take to create it, so I'm willing to watch whatever they make. Just my opinion of course, and yes, sometimes I use the fast forward!

I agree, and posted it last year that personally I don't need 10 minutes of someone babbling on about an ecig. no reason it can't be done in less than 5 minutes. If it starts bad, bad music, or if I hear "toot" or anything like that, it is over. Show me the damn thing, why it is different and really that is about it. I don't even need to see vapor unless it is somehow totally different.

I had watched quite a few reviews at the beginning and have benefited from them. So I am not complaining and I will likely watch more reviews in the future.

Again, I am not complaining! Just making an observation and this observation will not keep me from watching future reviews.

Not in all cases but I think in most cases the only reason these folks do reviews is - 'They like the idea of people watching them vape and showing off how big a hit they can take'.

And that's OK.

There is nothing wrong with 'showing off'. If you don't believe I think that, then check out the link in my signature. :)
