keeping in mind what works for one person may not work for another
when someone keeps saying it's a great product...but not giving any detail, that's not a good review

as you said you found a tank to be too airy for you, but the reviewer it may have been perfect for them

try to watch at least 3 different reviews of a product before you buy it and as always you are more than welcomed to ask here in the forums before buying anything for people's thoughts

just because someone reviews a product, doesn't mean that they are bribed to do so...they may genuinely find the product good for their needs....that doesn't mean it's good for your needs

and coils will gunk up faster depending on the juice that you use...

if you are looking for some respectable reviewers then I'd highly suggest phil busardo (can i taste your juice) and mark todd (todd's reviews)
another one I've been enjoying lately is vaping with vic

look for reviewers that go more into technical details over those that just say it's good, look at my clouds....
I find it very amusing that you have been enjoying Vaping With Vic whilst at the same time also you recommend to look for reviewers that go more into technical details. His YouTube video review of the UD Sifu B-Tab, a product that I actually own and use, is the exact opposite of "go more into technical details", as he simply kept knocking on the product by just repeating himself countless times instead of showing some actual testing that would have revealed that the ohms readout on this device is reliably accurate after you subtract .01 ohm from it and you compare that to the resistance number reported by a multitude of DNA 250 mods the vast majority of which are also known to be highly accurate, especially by those who build to low ohms on a mech mod (myself included).

Same here, when I first started, I watched and shamefully believed many; I wasted a lot of money.

I know the feeling! When i started i trusted our local computer shop which also sell vaping devices(only joytech and some eleaf mods) and i started with vaping pen but it wasnt strong enough for me and my wife to quit or even cut down smoking. I think the guy sold us the whole joytech product line with huge over price. Over 50e for eleaf istick40w mod and i though this is teh shiet we need. With istick40w and joytech cubis pro the price was about 90e for such kit.. And i had to buy it on double becouse of wife. With few coils 200e for such gear, but i was new and trusted the guy. I though i never need new devices again...i just watched some guy on yt testing different cubis coils and telling how good and new hightech they were, while i look my cubis and wonder why it spitback like crazy, i could drink the russian/polish low quality ejuice(same guy sold) straight from bottle and have more pleasant experience, becouse cubis spitback is Hot! And why 75w rated coils burn out so quickly when my mod do max 40w.

I know im not that great at english language but i wish this forum had user review zone becouse i like to observe vaping devices and share my honest experiences and also read what others have discovered.

In this thread we review the reviewers?

Ive watched a couple of youtube vape product reviewers. I find most of them to be a bit of a cringe fest, some of them I felt dumber for having watched them. Theyre quite a pretentious bunch these reviewers, it makes it pretty tough going to watch a full vid. I tend to skim watch.
A big thing for me is the state of the hands. Some of these guys, jeez! Regular application of a little moisturizer would not hurt one bit!
You dont have to have a huge skill set to be a yt vape product reviewer, being able to inhale and exhale is the biggest part of it, then being able to roll a thin wire around a slim steel shaft and furiously combing and tamping cotton the other part of it. All up though, these mouth breathers do a top notch job of making minor differences between gear seem like wildly unique and cutting cutting edge differences and I admire that ability in anyone.

I think there is some useful info on yt but I tend to seek out forum threads for information and then buy, try and master or bin and that applies to all interests.

Disclaimer and just for a little context, I generally dont read instruction manuals or stop and ask for directions if Im lost and I think google maps is an idiot, so, a bit of a grumpy old curmudgeon. My own yt channel is like a wasteland where likes and views go to die.

If those coils were designed to be run at 75W and you were using them with less power than the recommended level, they will burn out much quicker since you are basically boiling the juice instead of vaporizing it.

People always think they need the latest and greatest. If I would have stuck with my Kayfuns and Rose V2s using 50/50 juice back when I started, I wouldn't have the collection of vape gear I have today with quite a bit of it in the big box of mediocre products. Those RTAs were perfect at doing the job they were designed to and that was to deliver nicotine. It's all about self control and not buying into the hype of new gear, find something that works for you and run with it. Not every piece of gear will suit everyone, some will love it some will hate it. Take the OBS Engine nano for example, to me it was a completely flavorless piece of junk that I wasted way to many hours putting different builds in, just to end up with a mediocre vape at best. Yet others love it, have many of them in daily rotation and that's all they use. YMMV in this hobby as well as other hobbies, try the headphone game for a while...

Products are designed to make manufacturers money, not provide you with the ultimate vaping experience. Shills are hired, positive reviews are given and at the end of the day products are sold... That's job done.

I watch a lot of the Vaping Bogan, he is definitely NSFW and can be very offensive to some, but his reviews are honest and he doesn't take anything from the manufacturers.

Heres a great review who can watch it to the end :D

Some may think how vaporizing vg and pg need anything special just something that make it happen but apparently there are tons of differences but its about the person and the need mainly. Some only want the nicotine from reliable device but some go deeper, like people who like alcohol. For me(dont like, only once or twice a year) its just some taste horrible and some are drinkable, but there are ton of people who sniff wines and drink different types with different foods and even the glass you drink from is important factor to the taste. Eu parlament leader juncker the drunker for an example like cognac in the morning then drink different wines all day :d) For me i have my waking up vaping device, the one i take when i go outside, the backup one etc :d there are many A+ devices which offer different kind of vape and flavor rendering and drag plus other features aswell.

Anyone who is going to try vaping instead of smoking need nice and kind experienced friend who will guide and give the right information about devices, nicotine leveles and such. It can otherwise lead to fail or very expensive like for me. I had the worse "mentor" he think he know everything but he didnt even know what tc mode is or he did believe he knew but was so wrong. Also recomended 1% nicotine strengh with vaping pen for heavy smoker who is trying to quit. Plus many other things...

This place seems to be the most reliable channel for correct information and some vaping shops are very nice too, but not all..

Youtube i havent found any good channel id like to follow and i have not learned anything from yt. Im going to try rba for fun when my rba coil arrives and the shop. Keeper promised to build it with me so i can learn and get the result i may want. That is nice.

I tend to just run a google search for the product i'm looking for and will watch a few reviews on it, vaping with vic lately seems to be the one that I get most of and 60% of what I've seen has been fairly informative...though a few have been mostly rambling.... ;) there again as I said try to watch at least 3 different reviews to get a general idea :D my first 2 would be phil and mark, after that I don't know... vaping with vic seems ok, jai haze is eh hit and miss lol but he at least does seem to give his honest thoughts....

The way I look at it, it's all just Advertising, or Commercials, just crazy people getting their view of a product out there.

IF you can find 4 or 5 with the same opinion then it's possible there is SOME truth to the advertisement.
Take it all as a grain of salt, you can't believe everything out there and some people view YouTube as a form of free entertainment.

I don't beleive vape reviewers lie as a matter of course.

I think you have to take many factors into consideration.

One. A subohm, dl tank is designed differently from an atomizer tank designed for mtl, as such, what the DL subohm crowd thinks is awesome is not what the MTL crowd thinks is - so you have to know what key words your looking to hear, and "good" isn't one of them unless it's paired with your style of vaping, such as "good mtl tank". Good on its own does you no good.

Also. These guys get gear for the purpose of a review. The majority run through one tank or so, then do a review based on limited experience with the product. Most of them aren't throwing it in the bottom of a purse one Tuesday to see how well the cap stays on. They vape it at home, it's not their daily driver. As such there are some things they just can't tell you, such as whether or not the cap came off when they threw it in their purse on Tuesday.

With such limited use, the information they give out is limited to their own experience, and of course everything is great right out of the box. I've rarely disliked anything right out of the box... you usually find the quirks you don't care for in week two after taking the mod out of the bottom of your purse.

Your job is to understand why we watch reviews (aka, its to learn more about how to set up the item and/or use certain features), and who to look to for more real world experience with products (I'll give you a hint, it's the people who own the products and use them on a daily basis)

But don't hate on reviewers... they are doing a service.. your just using them incorrectly because your not understanding what service they provide.

I mean, poor @Eskie (or other fellow vaper) may try hard to explain some feature in writing, but nothing beats seeing it done on video at times..

There are some ok reveiwers that give honest opinions giving warts and all reveiws. I dont watch much other than to see maybe how something is done, but rarely. I prefer written reveiws. You can look at and think about a section, re read it and take it in better. Video is different and no substitute for the written. The words fly by, even when you go back to a section, they still fly by again. Written is there and only moves when you want it too.
But, a lot of reviewers, both video and written are in a position. Give favourable reveiws and keep the freebies flowing in, or give honest reviews and watch them dwindle. It's consumer driven and sponsoring, supplying, whatever you want to call it, a reviewer that finds fault with your product is counter productive. Even if it sucks. I think advice given here of waiting to see what others like themselves think of something on places like here is the best option. Lets face it, a mod is just a device to fire a coil and yet the way they can be hyped up as a must have item you'd think it was something that makes you live longer, can make you wealthy and bring endless happiness.
Expecting to see anything other than you do on video reviews is a dream.
Now if you will excuse me I have to go and order my new mod that fires the coil 1/1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000th of a second faster than my others. I just have to have it! It's gonna be life changing.

We expect a YT review on that mod before you take it outta the box & after you spend the $ deposited in your account @Vapedog !

I use the YouTube reviews to see what features a product has but put very little stock on their opinions. If you wait a little while after a product becomes available you can come to this forum and see what users are saying about it and if there isn’t any info start a thread asking for opinions. There is a few reviewers I trust because they’ve steered me in the right direction in the past but the majority of reviewers I take their opinions with a grain of salt.
This.

I'll watch a video to get a few tips on how to build or navigate a menu. You're better off getting opinions about this or that product right here. Youtubers don't often call junk "junk" because if they do that, the junkmaker will stop sending him/her free junk.
