I need to order 5 or 6 Vision Stardust but am having troubles making a choice with all of the options.

A standard one costs 5.95 from GV or a replaceable is 7.95.

2 x standard = 12.00
1 Replacable + replacement head = 11.00

So I am wondering if I missing something but the $ benefit to buying the replacable is minor.

Also wondering about LOng wick vs. short. I vape at around 4.2 with a Provari vaping all natural fruit juices from Virgin Vapes. Any recommendations on which variation would be the best fit.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi, Windmiller,

The idea here is not to save money on the initial purchase, but on maintenance. With a regular Stardust you will be buying a whole new 5.95 carto when it wears out. With the replaceable one, just the 2.95 head. Vast majority of the cartos fail in the head (so to speak), so as time goes on, we are talking a decent amount of savings. :) Plus, you can use different resistance coils on the same carto without spending money for the whole new one. Plus it's extremely easy to clean. And so forth. So it's not just financial advantage, it's also practical in many ways.

The wicks... There are people swearing by long ones, and there are people swearing by short ones. The best I can say is try it both ways and see which camp you fall into. :D

I have both Novas and Stardusts and agree with Briar that this is an investment buy where the returns will only be seen after buying a number of heads as opposed to buying a whole new unit. It is dead easy to clean and if you have a VV mod of some sort, gives you the ability to use the same unit with different heads for different vapes. I have Novas (same concept but larger tank) that I love for the same reason.

As Briar also stated, the question of long wicks/short wicks really depends on your taste buds, your PV and your juice (PG/VG ratio). I happen to have a higher ratio of VG juice, which tends to be thick, and found that the long wicks weren't doing a good job of pulling the juice into the coil. Cut the wicks so that they just touch the sides of the tank when wet and the flavor/vape/th was like night and day and I now cut all my wicks and never have a bad vape. That said, I may try some juice down the line with more PG (thinner) and may prefer to keep the wicks long (or longer than what I do now) for those juices. My advice, buy them long and cut them to taste rather than buy them short and then wish they were longer.

Good luck.

One more thing (and I'm sure you've read about this)...

Particularly if you cut the wicks or buy them short, you'll have to do a bit of tilting to make sure the wicks are wet with juice as you start to run low in the tank. It's a bit awkward, but you'll be holding your PV almost horizontally - not that big a deal. I'd keep the Stardust laying on its side when not in use so that your next hit isn't dry. This is only an issue (that i found) with the short wicks and why (as I understand it) long wicks were developed to help pull the juice up from the bottom. I found that thicker juices just don't benefit from the long wicks. Along the same lines, make sure to let the Stardust rest on its side for about 30-60 mins when you first fill it to make sure the wicks are wet and that the coils are well primed with juice to avoid a bad/dry hit.

I'm not brave enough to cut wicks!

I don't see too much difference in long or short wicks with my 50:50 juice. The shorter wicks I like a little bit better, but not enough to pick up the scissors.

I echo the others, you really have to try the different wicks yourself to see which you like better.
