I will be visiting a friend in London in April.
I still smoke analogs, but have been using my Pilot (and now my Dura-C) indoors at home.

My friend is a non-smoker. Not militant, but she is allergic, so it's been fine if I smoke outside or on a balcony. Now she's in a new flat without a balcony.

I bought some snus for the plane and the morning and late night.

I'm thinking of taking my Pilot over there.
Will I need a different charger or would just a plug adapter be ok?

Is it possible to get an Evo or similar at a store there? Or are they only online? What about juice?

What exactly are the new smoking rules? Last time I went I could smoke in pubs, etc. I know that's banned. Is there also a distance you have to be from doors, etc?

Anything else I should consider?

We have 240 volt supply here but my own UK-supplied charger (for Super-Mini) says 100 to 240V input. Suggest you check the back label on your charger - it may well be OK with just a simple plug adaptor.

The law is basically that you can't smoke analogs within any building to which the public has access. There are no "distance from doors" regulations in the vast majority of venues (except hospitals).

At moment I have only seen e-cigs on sale via the web although I hear they are starting to be available at markets etc.

I didn't even think to check the back of the charger. It does say AC100-240V so that's good. I'll just go to a luggage or travel shop here and get a UK plug then.

Glad I'll be ok smoking while walking since I still need my cig fix, though on weekends at home, I'm smoking less and vaping more.

I noticed some UK articles said some e-cigs were being sold at markets which is why I asked that.

It would be nice to be able to get a shiny new Evo over there :)
Thanks Scrim!

Hehe! Many pubs and restaurants will allow you to use your e-cig in them - it's good to check with the staff before you start vaping. Quite a few have installed outdoor smoking areas with patio heaters and music.

Remember you won't be alowed juice with you in the aircraft cabin - np liquids are allowed for security reasons. It should be fine in your hold baggage. You could always have a bottle delivered to your friend's place ready :D

You won't find many quality e-cigs in the markets, i you want something nice order it online when you are here. Most things come next day thanks to our postal service covering such a small country

One thing to bear in mind is on no account should you travel outside London when you get here. That's where all the cannibals and dragons live.

The 1st time I visited England, I ended up going to London, Darlington and a small sidetrip to Blackpool. No cannibals or dragons, but did have to have a friend translate from American English to Geordie since her cousin and I couldn't understand each other :p

Last visit, I made a sidetrip to Bath.

I thought about that, but don't think my friend would feel comfortable with it.
She tolerates my smoking (and is much nicer about it than most non-smokers, especially considering her allergies) but having it delivered to her place would probably be pushing.

I'm thinking if I take along the least smelly liquid, it should be ok. Maybe true menthol or fennel.

If only they sold the Evo in Boots, I'd be set!

'Chav' is used in the UK to describe young people, often with an ASBO (antisocial behaviour Order) and mostly wearing sportswear or burberry. They use a dirty, gutteral version of English. The best place to spot them is outside Primark, or hanging round the Spar shop.

Teens with attitude.
Think I may have encountered a few my last trip over there.
My sister and I went to Bath for a couple days.
The 1st day was quite odd with some mixed experiences.

We checked into our small hotel - nice people there.

Went walking. Now my sister and I had just been to France to see where our ancestors had lived and I was puffing away on some Gauloises I had bought there. As we passed a group of 7-9 teenage boys, they started swearing at us and telling us "Frenchies" to go back to France. My sister was not in the best of moods since we hadn't had as much coffee that morning as we normally do and what we'd had was dreadful and she shouted back at them, "We're not f*#g French, we're f*#g Americans, so f#* you." She's normally super easy going, but she was riled. And it was quite funny to see, such an absurd situation.

After seeing the baths and shopping, we were hungry. Of course, that was right when every restaurant was shut. We started walking away from the center of town, stopping at each place to try and find something open. Around one corner, a woman in her 20's was standing and we passed her. Suddenly this other woman rounds the corner, screams at the 1st woman and slaps her, then goes back round the corner. The 1st woman started crying, so we went to her. She said she was just waiting for her boyfriend to meet her, didn't know or understand why the woman had accosted her and was now frightened. So, we decided to wait with her to make sure she was ok. Safety in numbers and all that. The woman did come back, but once she saw us waiting with her, she made a face and left. Luckily the boy friend came soon after that. Don't know what we would have done if that mean woman would have returned with other people.

We did find a great Spanish restaurant to eat at that night, then had an absolutely lovely time the next day. Found a good coffee shop. Met a nice person there who gave us some great tips on places to see and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
