Vivi Nova Mini - burnt taste

Just got a Vivi Nova Mini through the post, and filled it up with my fav juice, but it tastes horrible.

The CE4 Clearomizers I have taste great and produce loads of vapour - but they leak, so I bought the Vivi Nova.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong ?

I am using 100% VG fluid, and it's very gloopy maybe thats the problem ?

100% VG is a bit thick for the wicks in the Nova. Though I have seen people say they have no problems running liquid that thick. Have you tried keeping your PV laying on its side rather than sitting striaght up? That helps keep the coil wet. I run 50/50 juice all day in my Minis and have no wicking issues but I keep my PV sideways.

It sounds like it is not wicking well. VG is a very thick liquid. I don't vape 100%VG so I don't have a lot of experience on that. Maybe someone will come along and help you with maybe thinning the VG a bit with water or something. Do the tilt and twirl to really saturate the wick near the coil/attomizer part is. I am currently looking at my three novas. I love them.

Did you let the juice really saturate the wick? The wick will become opaque when it get nice and wet. When the part that you do see is that way, remember that there is still wicking inside that needs to become wet. I know people use the Nova with 100% VG and like the device. Hope someone comes along to help you soon. Good luck :)

It manages to work pretty well for me and I've used it with a couple 100% VG juices, smoe pretty thick. I take the little wicks and "unfurl" or fray the ends of each of them, like little fans, being very careful not to tug on them. Also, I raise the little silicone cup a bit when putting a new head on, put it in the mini, place the top cap on which presses it back down some, then take it back off to fill it up.

Like was said before, I also tip my pv sideways now and then, making sure the wicks stay saturated.

It works quite well, although if you chain vape, you'd want to tip and twirl thing more often.

The wicks do look opaque, and I've left it lying on it's side for half an hour or so.

Managed to get one ok vape of it by sucking very slowly, but the second vape tasted burnt again. It does sound like it's not wicking doesn't it.

Could it be the atomizer resistance ? I notice it has 2.4 Ohms written on it. I'm using it with a standard Ego battery.

2.4Ohm on an ego should be fine, have you tested it with a multimeter? Vivis tend to not actually be what they're marked as, though normally they test higher not lower.

Other than that, it sounds like it's a wicking issue. I don't normally use 100VG but have used it some. First up, is it a proper vivi nova rather than a clone? I have several clones; while they work, they need to be tipped a lot more often. Also, since you're using 100VG, do you thin it at all? one or two drops of distilled water per tank can make a big difference in the viscosity without sacrificing flavour too much. Fill ~1/2 way, add a drop or two of distilled (or PGA), fill the rest of the tank and shake vigorously.

On a standard ego, the 1.8 ohm would probably be better, but the 2.4 ohm should be fine. If anything, that would give you now taste rather than burnt if that was the problem. Does sound more like a wicking problem... I get that sometimes on my mini when trying to drain the tank for cleaning and I don't twirl often enough...

I didn't realise there were knock offs, I got it from here, is there anyway of knowing if it's a real one ?

Mini Vivi Nova 2.0ml

Anyway I seem to have fixed it !

I took it apart, and put the 1.8 ohm atomizer on, refilled (added a couple of drops of water as suggested) and it's working brilliantly now !.

I guess there's something wrong with the original atomizer, presumably the wicks aren't fitted properly.

I've had this issue before. It's an awful taste and I do think it has to do with wicking. The minis I have are more prone to the issue than my reg 3ml larger tank (go figure)

I want to try a stainless wick, but the mini is so small, id probably scratch the hell out of the poly tank. I've looked at the Kanger bottom feeder, and want to give that a try, however I like a warm vape, and I don't see that happening with an atty at the bottom of the tank.

So for now it's twirl and twirl, not to mention topping off all the time, which kinda defeats the purpose of a tank but oh well.

Oh here's a tip I found on my own:

I'm using the mini with a vision spinner battery, though this may work with twists and other stick batts.
If I vape horizontally it helps with wicking. Also you don't have to tighten the tank down onto the battery real hard for it to make contact, so what I do is get it nice and snug, and then unscrew it just enough to line up one of the wicks with the fire button on the battery. This way when I hit the gas, the wick is saturated with juice right by the atty head.

If you diy you can either go with more PG or add water. Also do you have a Vision or a knockoff? Cleaning at some point is mandatory. I soak in alcohol, rinse it good and dry burn. Seems to help with me. If they don't say Vision then they are a knockoff and the parts are not compatible with the other knockoffs or the Vision. I have one knockoff and I have center post issues with it all the time. Keep having to fiddle with the post to get it to work on all my batteries.
