I did the torch/quench vg/quench cycles and wrapped it with a 4 turn, 3 ohm coil with 34g Kanthal, and it works even better, more vapor and flavor.

Cheers! :toast:

A little update. That same coil and SS mesh wick are still going strong 2 months later. It still goes to work with me most days. Every couple of weeks I dry burn it just a little, just a few quick 2 second dry fires, then blast the loosened crud off with a Waterpik. I think keeping the dry burn to a minimum is extending the life of that coil. I mainly vape mostly clear, light colored fruit flavors, so the gunk is minimal.

Got this from the safe wick thread, but cheese cloth makes outstanding wick! Cut about a 1" x 2" single layer patch, rollit up loose length wise then tighten it up by finger rolling, wash your hands first... Using it in a vivi nova and my smoketech rebuildable tank.

I have used the cheese cloth in my ViVi Nova it taste good but With my juice it cruded up way to fast.

I do believe I shall follow your lead, looks good.

Both ends of the resistance wire (Kanthal or Nicrome) heats up (i.e. "hot legs"); there's no need to worry which the positive or negative end of the wire. You just need to double the wire are both ends by folding then twisting these so that the current would be able to flow with half the resistance and thus heats less.

Double the wire ? What does this means, as I really have no clue. But I get a funky taste to my coil i rebuild, its not the wick, since I tried the wick in another atomizer, so it's not. These are stardusts v2.5 heads I am trying to rebuild, but those just look similar.

I am just wondering if double the wire is just twist it a bit back or so ? Any pictures about this. As I do not have any no resistance wire, I can't use that one for now. And If it can be done an easier way I am all ears

Thanks in advance

I don't have a pic for you but, I make the coil with the ends of the wire about twice as long as needed and then fold it to where the end of the leg (wire) is up at the coil, hold it there with my fingers and then down at the loop end I clamp onto it with a small pair of locking tweezers and twist it until it is a tight spiral of two wires.
If I didn't explain it well enough I could take some pics I guess.

ok thats clear, and as I tought you mean. 1 more small thing you just cut off with a pair of tweezers or so like you would normally do ? Or would it even be better to measure out so you have the loop at the exact correct size, and don't have to cut the loop back

It's just english isn't my native language, as you might have figured and sometimes technical stuff can be difficult in another language. Now if you would talk about programming I wouldn't have that issue :)

I don't measure, Just make the legs long and after I get it assembled into the head I bend the loop that sticks out back and forth until it breaks off.

A pair of fingernail clippers does a great job of cutting small wire very close to where you want it to end.

Just gota say, I got some silica wick and was not happy at all with the vape. But I torched the wick and then boiled it and it makes a very big difference. Vapes damn good now.

Blue flame torch? Butane or regular lighter/stove?

I do mine on the stove. Simmer burner in the back. I normally torch, rinse, dry and use. Might try the boil.

Thinking of buying a Vivi, all this info is really helpful

If you don't mind a little tinkering, I really think the Vivi Nova is one of the best "bang for your buck" out there. If your redo the heads with, for instance, cotton and Kanthal, you can have a few years of supplies for ten or fifteen bucks.
