Guessing here....(Mine is in the mail... been reading/watching a lot though)

The center (positive) lead is not the issue since the entire center post is conductive... not just the wire sticking out the bottom. That MAY not be true and I can't tell yet (Patience is a virtue they say! I'm trying!) until mine gets here. Maybe you guys know. Anyway, that would avoid the entire path from getting hot from bottom up to wick for positive side.

For the negative, kinda same rule. The shell is ground. So this may provide an additional electron path and avoid the entire length getting hot IF IT IS TOUCHING THE SIDE NEAR THE TOP.

Then again, I could be all wet and the material is not very conductive at all. Then, all you'd have is a heat sink (still a factor).

Of course, the NR wire would solve the issue no matter what. Hard to get a good connection though. Soldering it is harder than normal wire. Also the usual "twist em together" is not a very good contact IMO. Interesting point. I'll have to see what happens........

I'm more concerned about the wicking material myself.

EDIT: Hope I got that right. Always check for shorts and proper ohms before using! And if it acts funny/not working.... don't keep pushing the button! :)

Flyer,
Grab a v2.5 head and a 2.8o head ( a new one obviously) and if you pull it apart you'll see little NR leads on the end of the coil.

Ok, sacrificed a new 2.8 ohm head (no problem, I'll recoil it anyway). Pictures below. Sorry, just one piece of resistance wire.

I still have the old school V1 and haven't experienced any kind of burning, neither wick, nor rubber. My unedumacated guess is that the wicking on your version isn't pulling enough juice at the start. When installing a fresh atty head, pull the rubber top seal and drip a few drops of juice onto the coil before fully assembling and firing it.

Mine is in the mail (new). So... nothing happened yet! Just planning on points of failure....spare parts, whatever. If I like it I'll probably pick up a 2nd unit for spare parts. At that cost, it's not a big deal. But I'd rather just buy the 50 cent washer. I did order a metal tank to replace the plastic one if it breaks.

I like to be prepared too, but can't really see a point of failure other than the tank threads. What washer are you referring to? Just curious.

I do second Flyer on the some of the parts are tiny and easily lost, just this morning with half open eyes (hadn't gotten coffee yet) I was trying to find a piece that fell on the floor. That is a pain!

A vacuum cleaner (cleaned out first)... a bunch of loud snapping noises... done deal.:2cool:

Well, nnote posted that vaping at higher volts is some image/ego thing. For those who don't have a vv or a vivi yet, the volt range affects the heat of the vapor. So it's not all the same. I use a 2.4 head because I like the temp at 3.7-8 or so... other people like the hotter juice and draw of higher volts. So it's not all the same or all about the power/amps being equal. I hate hot higher volt juice or cooler lower volt juice. There's a big heat/taste difference even with a 2.8 head at 4.0 v, 4.2 v or 4.6 v. So I'm sure at 6v it's pretty hot vape for those that like it...

a little update here- i've been vaping using the 2.8ohm @ 4.2 volts all day/night and haven't had a single burnt or dry hit. Idk what happened but its been great. I've read these heads need a break in period and I can confirm that after letting it sit overnight with some juice in it, its been performing like a champ all day/night. Maybe the wicks just need to soften up, who knows!

Wow, I vape with the 2.8 head on 3.7 volts and it still gets too hot sometimes! (I chain-vape.) Any hotter and the flavor goes away.

But I'm getting leaking if I ever set the thing down. I even get the occasional leak on a ce3. And on stardust-style clearos, LOTS of leakage.
And some burning and dry hits on a tank with 2.6-ohm cartos.

When it doesn't leak or get too hot the ViVi and the Ce3's are competing for favorite with me, but I'd sure like something that "just works."
Am I screwing things on too tightly? Too loosely? Does everybody but me buy a mini-umbrella stand to put their vivi into when they want to type?

Also, does anybody use food-grade turkey-sewing twine for wicking? I keep reading about how people have to boil their yarn because it is not food-grade. Just wondered if there's a problem with starting with food-grade to begin with.

I have noticed that I get a much better vape if I hold the button on my device for a couple seconds, letting the coil heat the juice, before I take a draw.

I definitely agree. Plus mine always pops a little bit of juice right when I press the battery. By the time I get it to my mouth it's a nice clean flavorful vapor. 4.0V on my ProVari with the 2.8ohm, and it's just good hit after good hit. I love the Vivi Nova. Got some cotton wick and 32 gauge kanthal wire coming and I'm going to try to rewick with the cotton and see what that's all about. I've put about 10ml through my 2.8 ohm and it's still going strong. Vivi Nova v2.5 = win

One other person that I know of said they had problems with leaking til they replaced the o rings. I personally haven't had any of those issues with the vivi nova even when laid on its side.

As far as the turkey sewing twine, I haven't heard of anyone using it, that doesn't mean they haven't tried it. To be honest the reason I went with the thread, is I read that cotton worked and because I am a craft type person I already had the thread on hand.
