i was making my self laugh at the end of that post with my awesome logic, tank doesnt work on equipment, buy more equipment.. lol

i even clipped the silicone head top hat by the wicks to see if i could promote better wicking.. it still sucked.

anyways, youre on point pops.. i forgot to mention that I vape 30/70.. the high vg is partly to blame but that 3.2 head at 4v seemed pretty warm compared to my CE2 xls 2.8 ohm at 3.3 (on ego) and just couldnt keep me happy.. i really wanted to like it too...

Good one cryfreedom66! Yeah... I just looked at a new clean head. Duplicate to stress the point: THE FLAT SIDE GOES DOWN TOWARD THE COIL! Important.

I don't know if it's possible, but if you put the little rubber gasket on the other way... could it short the coil? So use caution!!!! (It may not be possible though, IDK).

EDIT: Doesn't look like it could. The diameter is too large, and the taper is on the inside. So if it was upside down, it'd be OK from a short standpoint.

After reading this, I took a look at mine.. it was on flat side up towards the drip tip. so I turned it around. I can't see where it made much difference. It still fired the same and tasted the same. I was getting such good flavor with the head the I got with my VN but since I installed one of the premade coils from avidvapor, it works fine, fires fine (it actually fires better than the heads I got in the "kit") but now the flavor isn't there. But I keep reaching for it anyway (I guess I'm so thrilled that I actually "built" something LOL)

If I were tasting this for the first time, not knowing anything about attys or cartos or rebuilding.. I might think that the juice sucks, which it doesn't (I diy and I know what my juice is supposed to taste like) so I can imagine how hard it is for some people, especially new people, to find a juice that they like.. since juice tastes different in different devices (attys, cartos, clearos, tanks ect) at different voltages. Someone might just give an awesome juice a really bad review just because they are using it in the wrong device, at the wrong voltage, when their taste buds are acting up, when they have a cold, when the wind is blowing the wrong way at the wrong time of day.

It's all gotten so complicated that I've all but given up trying convert smokers to vaping.. how can I explain it all anymore? sometimes it's all I can do to keep up and figure it all out, let alone trying to educate others! and I've been doing it over 2 years now, with constant (every day) study.. testing, tasting, fiddling, reading posts, threads, watching videos. I mean, I can get a great vape because I know how to line every thing up just the right way, but it took A LOT of time to be able to do this!

sorry for the mini rant. It's not been the best last couple of weeks at work for me and I'm not in the best frame of mind right now. :glare:

Just pulled apart my v2.5 2.8ohm head , and my coil has little NR leads tacked onto the ends of it.

Well, donnah....

I take your point about e-cigs being too complicated. The cool thing is they have lots of options. The bad thing is... they have lots of options (and not all of them work well).

I'm vaping OK on my VN. Just starting to break it in. Time will tell.

Heck, there's a lot of smokers that try e-cigs and just give up. Not motivated enough I guess. Then there's my (at the time) 78 year old mom that switched to e-cigs then quit entirely. All she did was have a 510 super-mini then an eGo and a drip tip ('cuz that's all I got her). Was fine. She dripped almost from day 1, didn't know about all the "other stuff", didn't have information overload, didn't know or care that carto A tasted like X and tank Z was OK but leaked and device Z was on the horizon.

Sometimes we "over gimmick" ourselves and then get frustrated IMO. OTOH, nothing is as easy as a cig that you burn up. If it's bad... you just move on to the next one. Of course, they kill ya. Easy has a price sometimes.

Hang in there. The wicking issue can be solved. Thinner juice? Different wick? Flipping the cap back the correct way is just supposed to not pinch the wicks so much. Who knows, maybe little difference.

The reason that I got the VN is because I can replace the coil. I LIKE to tinker with stuff sometimes. Of course, I also like it to work. So far, so good with 75/25 PG/VG juice.

Looking at post #1 & #3, I see he was using 40/60 PG/VG and had wicking issues...... and ref above was using high VG too. Maybe these wicks expect thinner juices.

Thanks Pops.. I'll certainly hang in there LOL. I haven't smoked a cigarette in 2 years and never intend to again. I have plenty of stuff that works and the VN does work. I wanted something to fiddle with and I certainly got it. It's a nice addition to my vaping gear.

I love everything about vaping.. it just seems so complicated to try to explain to someone new sometimes. I'm glad I bought this. I'm not one to jump on the latest fad, I usually go with what works for most people, like the boge cartos. I don't have a problem with having to try out all the newest stuff. The VN seems to be working for most people. It's fun to play with. Mine is wicking fine. No burnt hits since I learned (very early) that it likes lower (than I'm used to) voltage. It's just that this replacement coil isn't giving the nice, clean flavor that the "store bought" head did. I've got some cotton wick and kanthal wire ordered and can't wait to see what I can do! (if nothing else, it gives me something to look forward to)

I'll add that the silicone cap may have a "right side up" vs "upside down" thing going on. So... if it isn't working... flip it. The little metal washer might be offset from center... thus allowing more flow to center tube (and leaking out the bottom as a result). Of course, check threads too.
So I tried to adjust the silicone cap, I *think* I flipped it and it is now happier, but I turned it around one too many times so I'm actually having to guess. But I think now the up-end is a little taller than before I tried to flip it. It does keep going off-center, I tried to fix that but it seems stubborn. I also screwed it down a little further, seems like my habit of trying to twist out the drip tip (from playing with Stardust-style clearos) might have unscrewed something a little.

I also dug out the drip tip that I think came with it (hard to tell) and it seems a little longer, so it might be making a better seal. I had been using a pawn-type designed for the carto tanks.

It still gets juice into the top area, under the drip tip, if I lay it down but at least I can vape for 1/2 hour without cleaning anything. So I'll still need that umbrella stand.
