1. If using cotton wicks, it seems once the coil gets gunked, it's a goner. Have you found this to be true? I tried soaking a few of my rebuilds in distilled water (after 2 or 3 days use) and when I go to use them, they are more are less as poorly functioning as they were before soaking. So, I was wondering, if I soak them everyday (in theory before they get too dirty), do you think they'd last longer? Or is there a more durable cotton alternative (not ss mesh) that is suitable for repeated use?
2. The rubber grommet where the "legs" go will inevitably get worn out. It seems to be the only non-durable piece besides the wick/coil. Does anyone know of a hardware store or online source for getting grommets that will work as replacements when these start breaking apart?
Yeah, I understand, the vivis are cheap, as are the heads, etc, but I'm thinking in terms of potential FDA legislation and want to be able to be self-sufficient as much as possible. Besides, why buy new gear if I can just replace 20 cent pieces whenever necessary?
