vivi nova SS mesh wick

I did not care for the vivi nova with it's lousy, burnt, flavorless taste, until now.
I rebuilt the coil head with ss mesh and 30ga kanthal wire with a 6 wrap giving me 1.5 ohms.
OMG what a difference, the flavor is awesome and no burnt taste. It is just as good as my rebuildable gen style atty.

I have been asked if I would rebuild them for some friends, so I did.

Sorry to jump in, but this is what I switched to as well. I use a 25mm wide by 40mm long mesh, making a u shape wick. Works very well.

What technique are you using with SS mesh?

First thing is to is cut the mesh on an angle, not with the weave. It will make bending it easy. Yes, you do waste a little mesh this way. Then I bend an edge over about 1/8". Then I wrap it around a paper clip starting on the side I did NOT bend over. Then take out the clip and roll that sucker as tight as you can get it until it fits in the slots. Then start to work in into a U shape. Then oxidize it, wrap it with the kantal, notch the silicon cup and bob's your uncle.

Is the any real benefit to rolling a U shape? Wouldn't an L shaped wick (the U minus one leg) work just as well?

It may work but one side would be really short and look funny

Although I no longer use the Vivi's, this really sounds like a good idea...there's no reason why it wouldn't work, and it wouldn't require as much mesh. Also, you might have an easier time emptying your tank if there was a single point for the juice to collect in the bottom, as opposed to two. Good call!

Very interesting! Would we lose juice transfer because there is only one leg doing the transferring instead of two and get burnt hits?

I'm waiting on my SS mesh to show up and I'm going to attempt to rebuild my mini nova. I get decent flavor out of the regular heads... but I'm really hoping there will be a world of difference because all of my juices just seem to be lacking something that hopefully SS mesh will help.

I don't have a picture, but just made a crude wick/coil, so far I am not impressed, the flavor seems to be a bit more however vapor production is considerably less. I'm going to have to fiddle around with this and buy a full size nova and give that a shot as well.

The second I saw this material on the zmax I been wanting to do this on the nova but just dealing with the mesh is what's holding me back.

Where can I buy this mesh?
how do I shape it?

Quite of few of the e-cig vendors sell mesh now. I can't remember which ones, someone please chip in and help.
Loads of tutorials on YouTube for rolling and oxidizing ss wicks. They needn't be specific to the vivi nova, have a look at how they are rolled and made it's much better than having it explained in writing.

Thanks, did some research as well... but can kanthal wire be found at a hardware store? I asked the guy at Home Depot and he had no idea on what I was talking about. Maybe Radio Shack?

Good price on SS mesh, but you can get kanthal cheaper on Ebay if purchase in bulk (100').
