Oh wow, I personally think anything over 24 is overkill. The mad grapes and blueberry lemon (yuck) at 24mg was killing my throat and anyone that hit it. I felt sorry for letting people try that harshness. So I saw the video and I am content and convinced that the dry hits will be resolved by modifying the head slightly such as making slits on the rubber cap and re-wicking to that guys specs. I do notice a better experience through the 2.8ohm only because it has a more heavy duty wick although I am using the bolt with a 18500, the bolt is still doing a decent job with the 2.8 head. I ordered 5 of the 1.8 ohm last night. Is 1.8 what I need for the bolt?

1.8ohms should be about right to get good vapor off of a 3.7 volt device. I also have a bolt but run a high drain 18650 and my home built coils always come out to around 1.7 or 1.8 and it vapes like a champ. Rugged device which is good for my all day work pv. Also 2400mah 18650s give me plenty of power for 2 days or so.

I've had great success with a 40-thread cheesecloth wick. I make my wicks as demonstrated in Quigsworth's tutorial. I use the same wick on my two Penelopes, as well, and the results are the same ... great wicking, great flavor, clouds of vapor, and NO DRY HITS! I don't even need to do the Tilt-A-Whirl swirl at all until the last half of the tank, and even then just a quick twisty flip does it!

I am envy.. I always burn the insulationg sheath when doing a dry burn and get burny taste.. I get about 2wks per head on average..
right now I'm workign on building up dead heads so I can re-wick em.

Haven't had that problem but I'm betting it's more a newbie ignorance thing on my part.. I was real good at golf too, for a first time player, until I learned a bit and actually tried. Then I was horrible and the harder I tried to not be horrible the more I was. You know know, you've doomed me to the same fate, no? :D

Seriously tho I'ma gonna do the same thing that you, albeit at an obviously slower pace, and eventually get some mats for re-wicking so it's all good. I would say I've gotten my $ out of these but if they work, and well, why not use em I always say (plus I'm married with 2 hungry teenagers.. I need all the $ I can get these days (Geesh)) :)

Best of luck Tater!

If you are using variable voltage try reducing it. If not, try dry burning using only very, very short bursts with the power button and let the coil cool for a few seconds in between.

Yep, this exactly.. I don't dry burn on my Twists @ 4.8v and start it around the min 3.2v.

Hit it enough to hear the water turning into steam but ensure you've really blown it out a bit to get any massive excess of water out. A few second bursts, even if the coil doesn't glow initially, will slowly heat it up and vape water off. I do this as peraspera a few times and let it cool. Repeat until it spits and spatters less and you start to see the outer coils glowing a bit and let it rest. Repeat over on short bursts until all coils are slightly glowing.

If you give it time it won't scorch and you can get them glowing on a low voltage. Once all coils glow a time or two I let it fully cool down and then reassemble. Be easy, go slow and low voltage.
