I think BJ43 was just trying to say to stay on the topic of the thread. This is for helping people get their tanks working, not bashing it and saying that it sucks without giving a way to make it work. It's nice to know that it's not the same for everybody, and may not work at all for some, but let's just stay on topic.

And on that note, I can't get mine to vape above 3.2 volts. I'll have to look into the 2nd wick issue. Haven't even looked under the rubber cap yet. Hope this works!

What happens higher than 3.2V what ohm?

Stops wicking properly and starts tasting burnt. This is only on my gripper, perhaps the PWM has something do with it? On my VV ego knock-off, I can run it at red-blue (medium, probably more like 3.5) and it works fine. Been using it all week that way. Go figure.....

In my opinion this thread is for people who may be having problems and want to resolve them with the aid of those that have had success, If you are convinced you can't get it to work, go post a review in the review thread for vivi novas and let us go on with trying to help.

Well, I for one am thankful for the useful information from BJ43 and others on this thread. I don't want to reinvent the wheel and go through all the trials and tribulations that these guys already went through. Why bang my head against the wall? It hurts! I just got done rewicking my Mini Nova. This is my second attempt using a 3mm cotton wick. It's a standard wick, not gauze or cheesecloth or baby diapers or anything like that. I had four wraps of nichrome and was getting 4+ohms. So on the second try, I reduced it to three wraps and still getting high 3's. I guess I was trying for low/mid 2's so not sure how I get to that unless the nichrome wire just wont do it. Kanthal?? Also, I decided to notch the silicone cap where the wicks enter the head. I haven't fired it up yet to see my results. One thing I noticed, the 3mm wick is fat and gets pressed against the tube when fully assembled. Don't know how that will impact the performance. I wish I has seen BJ's picture before rewicking this one. I was 15 minutes too late. Oh well, next time. In the meanwhile, if any of you vets want to waste your time on me, I promise I will demonstrate more appreciation. Thank you.

The gripper has a problem in it's voltage cycling to average out, on mine when it reads 3.2 the coil and wick acts like it is getting 4.7 on other VV.

Try a small cotton overwick like in my picture. It does wonders.

Did you try small cotton wick over the original wick, this really improved my originals before going to full cotton.

Whoever is the originator of this idea...

I love you. That is all.

Agreed... I use #4 white cotton yarn for wicks and separate it into two strands instead of all 4. I've been using this two strand for my over-wick as well, but it improves the flavor so much I'm thinking of putting an unsperated piece of 4 strand up there... Maybe even a little ball of cotton ball cotton filling the entire area above the coil instead. Even if there are no strands hanging down in the juice, I'd think it would absorb plenty of juice from the wick and coil it makes contact with.

I read that cotton batten works well for this, but I don't think there's a difference from ordinary cotton ball cotton.

Surprises me when I come out of veterans threads and modding threads and read these problems, when most of the experienced vapers at this for many years and have thousands of dollars in just about every device out there have found the vivi nova an excellent device especially with an over wick. The only thing that gives little more flavor is dripping with Bonuts or a SS genesis wick setup. Flavor and TH are controled by voltage, Visible vaper is one thing and flavor is usually invisible vaper and can have a different ideal vaper temperature than PG or VG.

Let's see... not all things improve with voltage, some juices can't whitstand high temps. I have the same problem, bought an eGo Twist to see if higher voltages improved flavor, but rather gave me burnt taste and dry hits. I think it depends on the juice, the PG/VG proportion and not on voltage.

While I am new to the forums as a registered user, I've been vaping for about 2 years. Inexperience is definetly not the issue.
The issue is people have varying experiences with the same product. Some love it out of the box. Some people have
To make adjustments. Rebuilding the coil adding or changeing the wick. All I'm saying is I gave these a second shot because got vape said they had the cure in the new batch. Now some people have had great results. Yet others need to modify. If I was told when I bought these that if I wanted the best results I should expect to have to rebuild or tinker I would have passed them by. That's all I'm saying. Yes, they can be modded. For some that's a plus. This tank system has a lot of potential for modding. But I just wanted it to work out of the box.

Same happens to me. I don't want to fiddle with equipment, life's to complicated to add vaping. I want to buy a new head, pop it in the device and vape. Better R&D should be done by the company, instead of us.

Hey guys wanted to add on this that the vivi nova 2.5 heads come with a fabric sleeve that the wick goes thru if u redo a coil and don't put this sleeve in the legs of the coil will burn red hot and have no juice to vape and u get a nasty burnt taste

so make sure u get the sleeve back in and the legs have something to absorb the heat and the coil should burn evenly when properly wicked

FWIW i bought the vivi specifically to rebuild it. mine works OK stock, but I am excited to rebuild it with Stainless Steel. This will be my first attempt at something like this so any tips or tricks specifically for SS would be great.

also I'm vaping these on an Ego-C, has anyone tested their Ohms as OK, and then had a short while vaping? I dont want to ruin a battery...

Anybody tried an over wick and under wick in the setup. I'm using the Pene/Ody wick from COV.... Take piece of wick, sit it at the bottom of the slots (not rolled with coil). Take the coiled wick and set it on top of this. And then take a third wick, uncoiled and put it on top of the coiled wick. This seems like it would cover the coil very well with juicy goodness, from almost all sides.
