Got a vivi nova a few week agoand love it. Wondering though how long head lasts though. I have gone through 30ml and it tastes and vapes as good as day one. Its awesome. Also, before i muck it up, how does it handle dark juice? I have some juices i love but put away because they killed cartos so fast.

I've heard that a lot of people will give the head a good cleaning/rinse after about a week. I think they are made to last for a while.

Dark juices will probably work fine since you're not having to fool with filler material, but it may be a good idea to check the coils every day or so and clean if it looks like they are getting gunked up.

So, I just ripped apart the 1.8 ohm head on my vivi. I've been vaping dark juice exclusively on it. Noticed this morning it was not performing as well as it had been so I swapped it out with the 2.8 ohm head.

My findings: First, when I pulled it apart the coils were caked with gunk (carbon I suspect), the wicks we black (clearly heat damage/use) in the coil area. The bottom mesh cloth that the coil fits in was also covered with gunk at the top, where the coil/wick assembly fits into it. Playing around with it I knocked off quite a bit of this gunk from the coils, wick and mesh. I suspect that maybe if I soaked the whole head in vodka for an hour then did a couple of dry burns, I could have restored its functionality significantly, although the wicks and mesh would never be 100% the same (the coils might be close to 100%). That said, its $2 for a new head, and I've got some new ones waiting in my mailbox when I get home so, ymmv on cleaning them. For me, probably not worth it. There's also a thread on rebuilding them, so if your into DIY that would work too.

This is my first vivi - I'm normally a Boge Carto (not in a tank) guy, and its by far the best tank I've ever used. Given the problems with the Boge cartos lately, I order a couple of more vivi's and some extra heads. Figure $2 a head vs. $1.5 a carto is comparable (actually I suspect the vivi comes out ahead since I'm seeing that the vivi heads last about as long as 2 or 3 cartos last me).

I got a Vivi Nova last week and filled it up with Virgin Vapor's Kona Velvet Milkshake which is pretty dark (about the color of a dark run) and extremely thick. I created a thread a couple weeks back when I got the KVM because I tried to put it in a Boge carto and it didn't even penetrate the filler material, literally just sat at the top - so it's definitely a thick juice. So far I haven't had any issues but again it's only been in use for about a week but the flavor has enhanced if anything during that time. For the money, I'd say it's a great product and will probably buy another one or two at some point as long as this one keeps working well.

I meant to also add that the pbusardo review was correct that as the tank gets low it does start to get wicking issues that require "twirling" it to get juice up to the top of the wicks.

I really like the Vivi, but I keep having leaking issues where the top seals against the air hole. Most of the time it does not seat right after multple attempts, even when it does i get sometimes get small amounts of juice leading and find it coming up the tip when I vape.

I have 5 of them, and all fo them have the same problems to some degree. Anyone else see this problem?

I have experienced this with 2 of my Vivis. If I lay it down for a bit I will get the gurgle thing a happenin' and have to blow it out and clean the battery post. I can't figure if it is from the little plastic doo-hickie with the metal ring not making contact with the lid or not, it is not from over filling.
They are both on their second head and that is when the problems started, maybe I have version 2 heads on version 2.5 or vice versa.
Perhaps they are off by a mm between versions, I don't know....

I apologize for not answering Nodnerb's question. My experience with dark juices and the Vivi is quite simply that I clean them more frequently. The same is true for all the clearomizers.

I have like 5 or 6 weeks on a vivi nova head with no signs of slowing down……I clean it with warm water (or vodka) and dry burning every few days or when I change flavors. Never used high-VG or a super dark juice, but some of them aren't particularly light.

I've been using it since if first came out. The 2.5 ver or whatever it is, is a winner for me. However, I've had the coils last anywhere from two hits, to two months or more. It's a QC thing I think. If it hits once you bought it. So, if it blows after two hits. It's your fault, not theirs. Only way to get around this is to buy abroad by the pound. Then they're cheap nuff I don't mind eating the bad ones. JMHO

I havent had a bad one yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Cleaning is pretty simple, and I do two levels of cleaning:

1) Quick cleaning = pull apart, rinse everything with hot water, blow out, dry everything as well as possible, refill and vape. You will vape water for a few hits as the juice wicks.

2) Thorough cleaning: Drop in just-boiled water, soak 5 minutes. Drop into Everclear or high-proof vodka, soak 5 minutes. Repeat once. Dry thoroughly and refill. I sometimes use a toothbrush to "scrub" the coil gently if it's gunked up.

Lifespan definitely depends on the color and viscosity of the juice, but thankfully the heads are cheap.

Are you using the older version, or the new v2.5? If you're using the v2.5 (I haven't had this problem myself), my guess is that at some point they got cross-threaded and the threads on the plastic tube are damaged, letting a little bit of juice leak out.

That happens to me, but I've never gotten enough juice in my mouth to really notice……occasionally a hot splash on my tongue, but if I have one available, I just take the drip tip off and shove a paper towel in there and blow out my drip tip. If a paper towel is not available, I've used a shirt tail before……or just ignored it.

IMHO, that's not a deal-breaker.

Oh, that makes sense. Yeah, I might have gotten a little juice here or there, but I don't think it's any worse on the Vivi than on any other device out there. Pretty much par for the course with vaping, right?

It pools b/t the drip tip and the top of the tank on all of mine. I'm not quite sure where it's coming from, but it's not a big deal. Attys & cartos don't really have that physical space, so it doesn't happen with them. Still, I don't think it's a deal-breaker……not compared to cartos randomly deciding to burn/flood after a couple days or having to constantly drip.

If you're used to bottom-feeders (which seem interesting) then I could see it being annoying, but I still don't think I care.

I just wanted to update the thread and state that the Vivi Nova is still working well for me. I tend to only spend an hour or so with it a day during the weekdays as the Virgin Vapor Kona Velvet is a bit too pungeant for being around the office, but it hasn't clogged yet and the atomizer is still good - though the draw is still tight. I've learned to just let it do the work and not force the issue and the experience is still good, if a bit muted.

For the price I'd still recommend it, especially with the Boge quality right now.

For me I get juice in my mouth several times a day. I'm glad you are having good luck with them and it may be something I am doing. I played some more with mine and the metal ring in the silicone seal did not seam right. So I adjusted that and it is slightly better but still happening several times a day.

It looks to me like the problem is inherent in the design. The atomizer is close to the top and what I believe happens is when it is "twirled" to get the juice up some excess comes out. This would also happen if it is left on its side.

Don't get me wrong the vivi has a great vape. However the two style tanks I have have never leaked. With the Boge problems (5 bad boxes on my shelf) I have been looking for alternatives.

You can clean the coils. I am sure there is a video somewhere, but it is actually pretty easy. After you rinse if off in hot water dry with paper towels and gently squeeze the water from the wicks. Before replacing the little plastic cap over the atty, just heat the coils until they glow evenly along the top. Do this in a burst of a few seconds, let it cool down, do it again until the coil glows red all across it. Rinse, dry the wick with the towel, reassemble and you are good to go (vaping is self drying LOL). I actually clean mine after every tank or so. If you do end up popping the coil by over heating it, no biggie because you were going to toss it anyway and you will have learned how.
