I've been vaping for three weeks trying out new stuff on my 510, I see all of you raving about these carto flavors sn I order up a PCC kit and a few flavors.
trouble is now when I go back to the 510 I still get loads -o- vapor but where did my flavor go d#$nit
how do they get so much more flavor from a cartomizer than I can get dripping a 510.

I concede .
I have been converted.

myself I kinda bounce back and forth, flavors to me definitely taste different between the 2 units. right now I'm vaping a diy coffee that tastes horrible in my 510 but good in a carto I refilled. I think i'm enjoying the best of both worlds. I think it's for me at least just what I'm in the mood for that day. My first experience with a carto was horrible though it was from a supplier going out of business. My refill tasted fantastic. I had a wonderful lady send me a V4L PT and a few of their carto's and I'm impressed! As for the members that swear by one or the other as I did with my 510 aren't giving it a chance. I'll continue using both as I enjoy both and don't mind fiddling around, to me it's half the fun. Happy Vaping!

has anyone had problems with auto batts self starting in a pocket or such?
I'm liking the auto better than the manuals I had with the 510 but don't want to vape a cart in my pocket with it (waste of good juice and batt power :) )

Get yorself a Leaford lanyard and you will never have that problem;)
But to answer your question the autos are powered by suction so i wouldn't worry about them starting in your pocket.

I have an auto PT, and once in a great while, it'll continue burning after I've taken it from my mouth. It always seems to right itself though, and it almost never happens to begin with.
With the regular auto batteries, positive air pressure on the tip (LED end) can cause it to start up. I have a divided pocket on my work shirts that I keep my battery in, and I always just move it up and down a bit when I put it in there, just to prevent that from happening.

It's not really a big issue, though. If you're really concerned about it, pop off the grey LED cover, put some rubber cement around it to seal it, and then put it back on. This **should** prevent it from starting up in your pocket.

Bad idea. The autos need that airflow through the battery.

Not the ones that I've taken apart (V4L). They have a diaphragm at the cartomizer end that has a small embedded magnet. That magnet is in close proximity to a Hall Effect sensor on the battery side of the diaphragm. If assembled correctly, that means that not only is the battery sealed from any liquid that might come out of the cartomizer, no air needs to "flow" through the battery. It's a pretty nice design.... but it's also why a magnet can set your battery off.

That's strange. Just messing around, I've put a condom over the "ash cap" and I can't get a draw.

when i put a condom over the ash cap, the LED glows.

Right... that's the way it should work. As a matter of fact, there is an old trick where you put a condom over the end... leaving a little air gap between the end of the condom and the ash cap. Now "burp" the condom so the LED goes off. Now, if you push on the end of the condom like a button, the battery will activate. You've converted an automatic to a semi-manual, but it will still work like an automatic too (but you need to "suck" just a little bit harder).

Maybe your intake holes are clogged?

Actually, I tried it again and I was partially mistaken.

I can get a draw, but the battery won't activate. I believe it needs those holes in the ash cap to allow a bit of air in so the battery can activate.

Without that (for the pressure differential) I'm betting the diaphragm doesn't move far enough.
