Vodka or Everclear

I have been told by my guy at my local B&M to use Everclear to clean my tanks, cartos, and clearos. But on here I have seen that people use both vodka and everclear. I know one of the pros of using vodka is that its $5.18 cheaper than everclear. I would just like some input from my fellow Vapers to see which they prefer and why and after cleaning your stuff do you pour your vodka or everclear back in the bottle or do you throw it out? Thanks in advance for your help!

I use rubbing alcohol and boiling water. I never had an issue and I am vaping like a champion.

Vodka here. I save my Everclear for Hot Apple Pie. LOL No mine sits in the shot glass on vape stand. I would never pour it back in the bottle. Don't want contamination. When dirty it goes down the sink. Everytime I use a syringe I clean it with vodka so it doesn't sit their unused very long in the shot glass.

Do not waste the money buying everclear. As one other said you can use regular rubbing alcohol an just make sure you rinse it good. If you must use ethanol use cheap vodka.

Neither, use PGA 190 proof, it's safe to ingest unlike rubbing alcohol(not that it's a worry but you may want to take a sip). Most of the time Everclear or vodka is 150 proof or less, thus not as effective.

I use everclear because I like how fast it dries afterward, plus if I used Vodka I would be tempted to drink it. Life is too short to drink cheap vodka. I would never think of pouring Grey Goose on a mod, what a waste

1 part Vinegar, 4 parts water, disassemble tank and soak for 1-2 hours and then hot water rinse. Coils also.

Everclear has been working for me but I might switch to Vodka cuz its cheaper

I have done the alcohol soak. I have never seen a big difference when just using hot tap water. Run the sink as hot as it gets, and rinse. Put your bits and pieces in a tall vessel, set in the sink with a slow flow and rinse, rinse, rinse. That is my way.

I've been doing an oopsie then because the everclear was so expensive I have been pouring it back in the bottle. I will dump it out from here on out but it still seems to be cleaning everything very nicely. I guess switching to vodka and keeping the soon to be ex away from my cleaning stash will be what I will have to do. I live on a limited income due to MS and Fibromyalgia, so I thought I was saving myself some money not knowing I was contaminating my everclear...you live you learn, that't why I started this thread. Vodka it is then it will save me $5.18 and for that price I can buy two bottles or go to Walmart and buy half a gallon size lol for the price I paid on the Everclear! Not to mention while I was at the liquor store I locked my keys in my car had to call my dad for the spare and he asked "what the hell are you doing at the liquor store?" I said "Buying everclear to clean my e cig stuff." He just rolled his eyes Maybe someday my parents will learn that I am saving money this route even though my PV collection keeps growing each 1st of the month lol! Someone said they use shot glasses to soak their tanks in...does that mean when I go with mom and dad cross country in the mobile home I will have to start collecting shot glasses too? j/k I just use a tall plastic glass to clean all my parts in. But a shot glass from every state in the US would be pretty cool way to clean your tanks just sayin...

What is wrong with just a hot water rinse and a dry burn? It is so inexpensive to rebuild, now I just change more often. I learned the hard way not to use vinegar. My ProTank came unglued. So I guess that is why I just prefer simple. I have used Everclear before for cleaning but I prefer to use it in my DIY mixing now. Good luck to ya and happy vaping.

I just use the cheapest vodka I can find which last for quite a while and it works well for cleaning my coils and such.

I don't understand how to do a dry burn. I am a newbie and I guess I will have learn how to do it at sometime or another, is there a thread on how to do a dry burn and properly cleaning your equipment? I currently use tanks that have wicks and want to get away from them because I don't like the burnt wick taste. I have one bottom feeder and love it. I have an order ready to be placed at fasttech to order 40 bottom feeders because I like to have one tank for each juice I have so that I am not constantly changing flavors out of one tank cleaning and putting in a new flavor, I am a penny pincher and don't like looking like an alcoholic when I go buy my cleaning supplies but I do clean my tanks before I refill them, they are all labeled with what juice is in what tank and so on.. . Call me strange call me a collector lol I also have too many eGo cases than I have brains to hold all my tanks! Now I need more eGo cases just so I can make up a kit for the day to carry my stuff with me on a daily outing! I am addicted to vaping and collecting all things vaping! I have just too much stuff now! I carry this cute Coach cross body bag with all my vape stuff in conjunction with my purse and people look at me like I have gone mad lol...but using a Coach cross body bag to carry vape stuff is an expensive vape carry-all! If a tank leaks your purse is ruined! Maybe I should reconsider my choice in vape carry-all bags...

There's nothing wrong with your method. Alcohol's just a lot easier in certain cases. In the case of an RBA, I agree: rinse, (paper) towel dry, burn off excess gunk on the coil, and you're good to go. In the case of generic-clearo heads or cartos, soaking in alcohol is superior, if for no other reason than that alcohol evaporates faster than water. Dry burning on certain devices is impossible, or more trouble than it's worth.

Me, I use cheap vodka. If grain were legal in my state, I'd probably use that instead. Have yet to try denture-cleaning tablets; I hear good things about them.

Can I kick this response up? ! part white vinegar, 4 parts Distilled Water.

Distilled water is much purer than tap or bottled water, and very cheap in the 2.5 gallon size. At the A&P, $2.19. The purer the solvent, the more it dissolves.

I start with the distilled water, sometimes with the vinegar kick. If smell or gunk remains, then I go to cheap vodka.

But if you buy bottled spring water, also buy distilled water. Use it in your coffee maker. It makes the best coffee, and since there's no dissolved minerals, salts and metals, you'd NEVER have to clean the coffee maker!!
