If I read one more post about how people waste perfectly fine drinkin' booze on cleanin' their tanks I iz gonna cry. I actually think this is illegal in some areas. (If not downright immoral). 8-o

If you were going to use isopropyl alcohol, do you need the 91%, or is the 70% thats easier to find OK? And how do you make sure you've rinsed it all out well enough? Would soaking in the isopropyl overnight, then rinse out in hot tap water, with a final soak in distilled boiling water until the water cools work? I suspect the third step is unnecessary for most people, but we have ridiculously hard water here. Thanks!

The water here in El Paso is hard as well it is like calcium and rust right out of the faucet. I use my drinking water machine, it produces boiling water so it is a good handy option for me. The only time I use tap is on my rda's.

Neither, use PGA 190 proof, it's safe to ingest unlike rubbing alcohol(not that it's a worry but you may want to take a sip). Most of the time Everclear or vodka is 150 proof or less, thus not as effective.
Everclear is sold in 190 proof, only in certain states though. Like here in california, 150 proof everclear is the highest I've seen available but in Nevada you can get 190 proof everclear easily.

Well, if you're asking me... Just plain H2O. You are vaping e-juice... not sterilizing surgical gear. :) And I don't know what "grain" hardness your water is but if you can wash your hands with it, swim in it, hose off your car with it... it will be fine using it to clean out tanks. If you absolutely must use something to remove odors, soaking with a dash of white vinegar does wonders (somebody up the line mentioned this as well).

Keep in mind, I have low "taste" standards and probably couldn't tell the difference between vaping armadillo urine and Boba's Bounty at times. But I CAN guess the age of a good scotch whiskey and get it within a day or two. :D

I buy 190 proof in California--you just have to know where to look. ;)

That said, 91% (or 99%) Isopropyl Alcohol can be used, but one has to either rinse thoroughly afterwards or let it dry completely.

Denture cleaning tablets work just fine. So does very hot water--several soaks/rinses.

But this is just maintenance--none of those methods will work on coil buildup. Only dry burning will remove the gunk baked onto the coils.

I myself fill up my tank with warm water three times, each time giving it a 15 - 20 second light shake. Dump the water out, then blow dry the inside of the tank and let it sit for 5 minutes. After that, if there's any access water left, I take a q-tip and absorb the water with the tips. And give it a few shots with nothing inside the tank. Works perfect for me!

Kayta - May I ask where you get the 190 proof in CA ? Is it worth the additional cost over cheap 91% form CVS ?

Jons - Locations

Is worth it? I don't think so. I like it because it's clean and safe, but if you're careful, you can use Isopropyl 91 or 99%--just make sure to rinse or dry completely afterwards. Denture/retainer cleaning tablets work fine also and are non-toxic.

You can also fill a small microwavable bowl with distilled water, dump your coils in and nuke them for a few minutes--just make sure the coils are fully submerged under water to avoid fireworks.
