I have a friend, a convert of mine :D who is having a problem regarding her voice.. I asked her to write out her problem in question form and I would post it on here. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

"Would like to know, and appreciate all comments, regarding vaping and a change in voice. I am new to vaping and have only enjoyed my new habit for the past 6 weeks or so. I had been using my Joye Ego while vaping Banana Cream Pie, 12mg, for several days. My voice began getting deeper and then eventually it became a whisper. I am not sure if this is due to the pollen season that is beginning in NC, or if it is from vaping. I had stopped vaping for 8 days, my voice seemed to be returning, and then I began vaping again today. Once again, my voice has deepend and is almost a whisper. Would love to know if anyone else has had this problem, and if so, what did you do about it?"

she is vaping tasty vapor banana cream pie.. 80%pg 20% vg she says she does not have a sore throat.

Wow, that is so alien to my experience. Not sure I have much to offer. My speaking voice has dramatically improved, but I believe that's from quitting cigarettes.

Her using 80% PG raises a flag for me, since she's having this problem. Could be a reaction to the PG. Suggest she try some VG juice. That's all I've got, in light of my experience. Some people are sensitive, even allergic, to PG.

Even if that doesn't solve the problem, it will eliminate a possible cause.

I'm going to agree with NCC. My voice, both talking and singing, has gotten much stronger since I started vaping or more importantly since I quit smoking cigarettes. The PG might be the issue or it could be dehydration. I know for the first few days I had some throat issues due to dehydration. Even now, if I vape really heavy at night the next morning my throat feels a little phlegmy and my voice is a little weak. But, it is nothing compared to a night of chain smoking while drinking. I used to wake up with no voice at all or only a good coughing voice. lol.

My suggestion would be to introduce more water as the first step and also try more VG and less PG. Also, some juices have some liquid to add throat hit. I don't know anything about tasty vapor or banana cream pie specifically but trying a different juice could make a big difference.

Good luck to you and your friend.

I just began vaping a week ago. I lost my voice for two days. Truly, I could only make a few sounds and it croaked out. I drank alot of liquids and sucked throat drops. A few days later, it was fine. As others have said it may be due to the PG. On another thread, people discussed that the throat muscles work differently from smoking which affects the air intake. Do a quick search on voice or lost voice and you will find some additional information for your friend. It is quite nice of you to post for her. I wish her the best.

I also have to agree with NCC and TypeO. My voice has improved dramatically and I'm now in the process of regaining my soprano singing voice. I also have to agree that the use of high percentages of PG could be part of the issue. She could be having somewhat of a reaction or that much PG may just be too irritating for her. Everyone needs to make sure that they're drinking plenty of water while they're vaping and I can't stress that enough. VG and PG are hygroscopic meaning that they attract moisture. These will dry out throat and nasal passages very quickly.

My suggestions:

Try juices with more VG in them.
Drink water! Drink, drink, drink! You can also drink KoolAid or decaffeinated teas if plain water isn't to your liking. That's what I do!

I have a scratchy throat and the feeling I need to cough for the past two days. I hope it's not due to a reaction to the juice I am using 'Strawberry Banana' because I love it.

I don't know if I have a cold/flu like symptoms from a flu shot over a week ago, or from this juice. Perhaps you and I have a reaction to banana type flavoring. I don't want to stop using the SB but may try today and see if it clears up.

To be honest I feel like I am sick, so I tend to believe it's not related to vaping.

Anyone else notice they have reaction to certain flavors ?

I'm noticing that when I yell my voice is a lot deeper now that I've started vaping. I've only been doing it about a month so I'm assuming that it's just my body changing over. I also feel a little phlemy like my lungs are wet. I will be going to the doc within the next couple of weeks, but I think it's just that I need to get rid of some phlem that's been sitting in my lungs. Now that I think about it I'm gonna take some mucinex and see how that works.
I used to get winded when I walked fast or up stairs and that's pretty much subsided since I stopped with the analogs. I don't really know if I stopped smoking before I started to suffer long term damage so that me be just what I've done to myself after using analogs for over 20 years.

It's been almost a week now since I was having problems with my throat. I attribute it to being sick. When I used to smoke analogs, I remember several times I had such a bad cough/cold that I dared not try to inhale or I would bend over backwards coughing.

I think this was another one of those cases where, I was sick, stopped taking anti-biotics midstream, sickness flaired back up and viola. It wouldn't have mattered what I inhaled.. Shoot pure air would have made me cough... But that extra something beyond air just tickled it enough.

It's amazing. I am hearing from smokers, non-smokers and vapors alike that they or some else is sick. We've even had people with swine flu in our plant where I work. But reports from family and friends across the US are all sick it seems.

So in my case, I think I am battling the flu.

I have had a few days with a hoarse voice. BUT I have hypothyroidism which is a little worse since I quit smoking. That happens and not smoking is still worth it. A rough voice is common with that. Then again a rough voice also happens from smoking. I also found drinking a bit more water really helped and my voice is "normal" again.
