I started with a Lavatube v2.5 and it's a decent vv/vw device but the tank that came with it hasn't been used much so I can't speak to that. I have been using a Naut full/mini on it and it performs well.

I do think there are options out there that will perform the same or better that are a little easier on the wallet. And this is where my biggest gripe with it is I got the chrome finish and have had it a week and use it mainly at home and am not "rough" with it and the finish is already peeling off. For the price I was expecting a little more from it in those regards. It's also a little larger than I thought when I carry it in my jeans pocket I am always waiting for someone to ask me if that's a PV in my pocket or am I just happy to see them. :p

But it works very well, and I can vape on it heavily almost all day with a small charge in the evenings. And it's a good looking device if the finish you choose holds up better than mine has, if I was rating it on a scale of 1-10 all things considered I would give it a real solid 6 maybe even 7. It's a good place to start if you want a good looking vv/vw device that you can just slap a tank on it and go.

I've got the tube tank it came with, I'm more or less curious if their new style of tank is really that much better than the old one.

Sorry, I posted before I this reply was up. I tried the tank when I got mine but after using the Naut/mini it was an unfair fight, the tube tank probably wont get used at all.

When first started out, I used a lavatube....but honestly for the price, you can do a lot better including their tanks. It was a decent atomizer back in the day...but not compared to what you can get for the $, unless somebody sells to you dirt cheap.

Even comparing to my MVP 2.0, even though it tops out at 11 watts, the vape is smoother than the lava tube....I won't go into the technical details on why.. but for the price you can do a lot better, like MVP 2.0, or the new Innokin SVD 2.0 coming out.

On tanks, stick with Kanger aerotank mini or Nautilus Mini with Nautilus BVC coils...
