Ordered a pack of the CE3 clearos and really had high hopes for them. Followed the filling instructions to the letter but so far 4 of the 5 I have tried have leaked. Two of them leaked after a few fills and the other two at the first fill. One just a slight leak and the other three major leakage. Glad I caught it early as I use auto batteries. I have no idea why these are leaking. I see rave reviews on these. Outside of the filling hassle people seem to love them. Any idea what could have went wrong with mine. I still have one sealed but don't know if I even want to bother trying it.

Generally speaking, if a CE3 is leaking it's due to the inner silicon seal being torn or otherwise damaged from the syringe. I have used the CE3 since they came out last fall and have only had one or two that developed leaks. In every case, I replaced the inner seal and the leak stopped.

I am going against SI instructions with this, but I use a real, 20 gauge, hypodermic to make the first puncture in that inner seal. I do use a regular blunt needle for filling always, the sharp one just to make the hole a little more cleanly. This seems to avoid, or at least lessen, the chance of tearing it with the blunt filling syringe.

They can, and I stress can, also leak is the wicks are not properly installed. They rely on the surface tension developed by the fine mesh of the wick to prevent leaking from the bottom. But even then, an extra air path is needed for a leak to occur.

In the early production runs there was a problem with the clear plastic barrel getting stress cracked during manufacturing. That problem seems to have been cleared up for some time, now. You can check for stress cracks by holding a flashlight opposite from your viewpoint and slowly rotating the CE3. Stress cracks will appear as bring line along the length of the plastic barrel.

Hope this helps you. I love CE3s and use them daily with78mm autos, despite having X2s with T3s and a couple of bigger VV and VV/VW "mods". They can't be beat for price/performance and longevity.

Just my opinion, worth what you're paying for it. Your results and mileage may vary. No warranty or guarantee is expressed or implied. Proceed at your own risk.

Sometimes if I get close to filling them full they will leak out the battery contact. Its like its too full. Be very gentle when sticking the needle nose intro the silicon, too much force and you'll hurt it. The faster you fill them the more leak I get too. They say not to blow through them because you'll hurt the seal, so I make sure I let it sit on a napkin for a bit while its wicking.

One other little tip...Before refilling shake them like a fever thermometer with the mouthpiece end "out" or "down". This will force any remaining liquid that may be left in it away from the wick/coil end and reduce the chance of a leak out of the battery end.

A CE3 is a balancing act of surface tension at the wick end and pressure equalization in the tube. The only permissible air path is through the air hole on the battery end, anywhere else, like a crack in the plastic barrel or a tear in the inner silicon seal, and it will leak. I'm calling this pressure equalization, but there may be an actual, very slight, vacuum inside the barrel as the liquid is used.

Whatever you do, DON'T THROW THEM AWAY! They can be used either for parts, bases, barrels or mouthpiece tips, to repair other CE3s or you can take the inner seal out of one that has a bad coil and put it into one of your leakers and probably get a whole new CE3 out of the deal. When you moved to vaping you also gained a hobby, of sorts LOL.
