I told a few of you yesterday I would get back yo you on this topic today. Today was my first "real" day of vaping. I tried a Blu e cig and a cig2go last week. I thought Blu tasted like old dirty socks and the cig2go was a lot better. I came on the forum and got some info and decided trying vaping is a really good idea.

I haven't tried any prescription drugs to quit smoking because I am afraid of the side effects but I have tried nicotine gum, patches, etc. I have tried cutting back and I have tried cold turkey. I have tried to quit but the anxiety and withdrawal symptoms have always done me in.

I have been smoking 2 PAD for about 30 years. Sometimes more but rarely less.

I got the Volt Pro starter kit with the PCC, 5 pack sampler, 2 batteries. I through in some extra cartridges and a bottle of juice. I used the yourvolt00 coupon for 15% off. My total at Smokeless Image was $76. That was for a pretty nice set up. You can definitely spend less to get you started.

I am so happy with the Volt. It looks like a real cigarette so I don't feel like a freak smoking in public or driving in the car. I find the Country flavor to be not bad, the Ry4 is awesome, the Freedom flavor is a little sweeter but I don't hate it and the 555 wasn't my favorite. Of course, the 555 is the one I bought the extra bottle of juice for. I don't hate it and I think it will be usable.

Trying something new like this seemed a little scary. It is a change and a pretty big change for me. I love smoking but I can tell that it is affecting my health.

Here is the great news. I have smoked less than half of my normal consumption of cigs today and I don't feel nervous or deprived. I walked right by the cartons of cigs at the store today. I thought, you know what?, you don't need to buy those. Usually I would have spent $80 on two cartons of smokes.

That means that in a short time, even if I buy the bigger battery with the pass through cable and some more Ry4 cartridges and a bottle of Ry4 juice tomorrow, I will be spending less than I did on cigs. More important, I have some feeling of relief that this just might get me off the analogs.

I still feel like no pressure, I'll just see where this ride takes me. I am so happy that I will have smoked 20 or even 25 less cigarettes by the end of today and I am not falling apart. Yipee!!!

I really do recommend that you pick something easy to get you started if you are feeling overwhelmed. So what if you spend more money in the future to get a different set up? With the Volt I can buy bigger batteries and a carto thingey and such in the future and the new stuff will work with what I already have bought. I am definitely happy with what I have right now the Volt cigarette looking PV [I think it is called an 808 style]. Later on, I might switch to something bigger and badder but the Volt is a good price and I am thrilled that I took the dive and spent the money.

Thanks, ECF forum for being so helpful. I feel like I got the support I needed to give vaping a try.

Congrats and good job cutting down on the smokes!!
The Volt is a great simple introduction to vaping, easy to use. fill, vape.

I own a Volt, bought a kit to see if it was as good as all the recommendations said, and I already had bought / made a number of mods and APVs... It cost me well less than a week's worth of smokes, and I was curious.

p.s never feel like a freak for vaping, regardless of the size or shape....you're doing something good for yourself, it doesn't matter what someone else thinks!! ...:)

RenoLizzie, Congratulations on cutting down on tobacco cigarettes! You've done wonderfully well these first few days.

There will still be some cravings, and maybe a few slips, but stick with your decision to quit smoking, and you will get there. I know you will.

I believe it is best to start simple, and there is no harm at all in stepping up in the future, and it helps if what you have has a ladder for the steps. And support. There is a great bunch of supporters here, and no matter where your vaping path leads, there is always something new to try and learn and know.

AWESOME! :toast:

I was hoping you'd let us all know how you liked your Volt. Your experience thus far sounds a good bit like mine. I am so excited to be off the smokes entirely (it took me about a week to not want one at all anymore, although I know some say they stopped immediately & others still have the occasional smoke.) The coolest thing was that it happened so gradually and so naturally that it wasn't a painful transition at all (nothing like all the other awful attempts w/gum, patches, cold turkey, etc.) It was just a nice, natural progression, and by then I was so intrigued by all the cool juice flavors that those old Pall Mall menthols just sounded so boring!

I feel the way you do; started out w/my Volt starter kit, and sure I might 'step up' in the future, but for now it's working great for me and I couldn't be happier or more proud to be off the stinkies.

Congrats again!!! Way to go!!

Grats!! You have found a great source of information and support here. All the possibilities on devices available to the new vapor can be overwhelming, but spend some time reading and learning here and you will soon be as knowlegeable as any of us.

May I offer some general tips to a new vapor?

It's ok to occassionally use the analogs while you are trying to quit with an e-cig, if that is truly your goal. It won't be long before you'll look at a real cigarette with disgust after vaping. Don't be afraid to experiment with new juice flavors, because once you find one that you really like, quitting the analogs will be much easier.

You won't be able to find a juice that tastes like your old cigarette, so don't bother trying. It's actually more fun to find favorite flavors that can only be enjoyed by vaping.

Startup expenses can be rather expensive for the first few months as you try out devices and juices. Just remember how much you spent on the analogs, and realize you are doing something positive for your health.

Drink plenty of water, vaping can dehydrate you. Juice flavors may taste weak for the first month or so until your damaged taste buds heal. Coughing while vaping will go away - your body is adjusting to a new way to absorb nicotine.

Learn the best way to vape. Instead of inhaling directly into your lungs, suck into your mouth and throat like a straw and then inhale. Nicotine in vapor is absorbed mostly in the mouth and lungs. Then exhale slowly through you mouth AND NOSE - our sense of taste is greatly affected by our sense of smell, too.

You can never have enough charged batteries. Hense the vapor's motto, "Have backups for your backups." I started out with four Volt 78mm batteries. One time after not having a cigarette for a couple of weeks, I let my batteries run out of charges. I had a nicotine fit while they slowly charged and ended up buying a fresh pack of cigs. Not the end of the world, but I felt bad. I only ended up smoking 2 stinkies from that pack and they actually tasted terrible, but it made me realize that no batteries means no vapings.

At first my e-cig just had to look like a real cigarette. Fact is, the more an e-cig looks like a real cigarette, the less likely it will perform well. I soon got tired of changing batteries every 3-4 hours, and moved on to the Volt X2. These are great with the clearomizers. You can nearly get thru an entire day with the combo. And the larger size didn't bother me at all at that point. I even used it in public, and no one really paid any attention.

The Volt CE3's are a great way to try new flavors without wasting an entire carto. I get trial sizes of around 3-5ml or sample packs from different vendors. If you don't like a flavor, its easy to remove the juice, rinse the inner CE3 with water, and then add another flavor to try.

Congrats again and good luck vaping. :vapor:

I'm on my second full day with my volt...after 42 years of 2-3 pad. Had 4 cigs yesterday...2 this morning and none for the rest of the day...ordered more stuff. I started with the 555...too sweet...been refilling with desert joe which I like much better...and I have a variety pack coming next week. This is really exciting...I think it might actually work.

Congrats!!! I was a 2 pad smoker for 25 years. I had been vaping/smoking for about 2 years until I ordered from SI. I just hit my 10 month no analog anniversary yesterday. I have moved on from the volt in recent months. Trying my hand at vv devices. But it's SI's product that helped me make the transition and I will be forever great full. Good luck in your journey!!!!

I'm planning on getting a Volt as a gift for my brother-in-law. He has a pack-and-1/2 a day habit. Wondering what nicotine level to get. The variety pack sounds like the way to go.

At least 24mg. I smoked light 100's and when I went to juice, I went to 24mg and am still there. It really killed the cravings and I have never smoked a cig since I started.

what brand does he smoke now?

About 6 months ago, he switched to the little cigars because of the expense of the cigarettes. He still smokes about the same amount of them. I had been thinking 18mg; but the 24 mg suggested by SpicyMcHaggis is probably more realistic. All the Volt carto flavours don't come in 24mg though.

Yes they do. Smokeless image sells 24mg, if a flavor doesn't list it, it's because they are out if stock

Congrats!!!

I actually had no intention to quit smoking when I started buying all this stuff. I was far more interested in the novelty and the ability to smoke inside when I drink. Two weeks ago, I just decided not to buy more and I havent had much of an issue with it so far except for one night drinking (I was stuck between not wanting to be an ... by puffing away indoors and really wanting a smoke). I made it through though.......................Maybe it is just what is working for me but I just dont think about it or buy them.

I am trying to dose down a bit on the nicotine after a few weeks. I have more than enough juice at 24mg so I am taking a crack at 16-18mg. No CE3s to buy for now but the clearo is growing on me. I just wish I had a way to make it easier to carry. The x2 battery with pass-through is money too. I, too, want to thank everyone here. I see a lot of the same questions from new people and everyone has good information to share.
