Hi newbie here been a smoker for 40 years. I have decided to join the non analogue club here. I have been doing some reading and watching videos and have decided to purchase either volt or bloog ecig kits. I was just about to pull the trigger on the volt because of the price but when i looked at the extra batteries the choice was 65mm or 78mm and the caption under the optional batteries say that the standard battery is only 150 mah where as the standard battery on the bloog kits are 78 mm which would make them a better deal. Or is the volt website out of date? Thanks if anyone can tell me if this is true or not thanks. I tried to call but no one there to answer the phone at volt.
Also I would like to know about the quality of the flavors one versis the other.

Longer does not mean better:facepalm: Sorry, couldn't help myself :2cool: Did you check-out ther smokelessimage thread here? In the next couple of days they're bringing manual batts and some more surprises to the site:) Their product is supposed to be very comparable. Bloog's shipping cost turns me off:( They appear to have the same products at a better price and cs from what I've seen here on the forum :2cool: Just my nickel. All their parts are interchangeable.

SteelJan and Basilray proved that VOLT cartos are structurally the same as the Bloog. Now that the VOLTs have soft caps and the same e-liquid as the Bloog, VOLT is the way to go!

And those 220 mAh 65mm batteries produce an analog-sized e-cig, which is a wonderful change of pace from the big fat batts and mods. As I said about the Bloog Maxx Fusion back in February: Finally, a vapable super-mini!

In fact, there are more companies adapting this same bloog/volt technology in their kr808's.
Digitalciggz has their smart PCC starter kit for only $40. And according to steeljan's video, it's basically the same as bloog's and volt's kit!!
Here's that video: YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
Thanks to you, I just watched that follow-up review by SteelJan, focused on the DigitalCiggz offering. The cartos may be the same (except for the hard caps), although I certainly was not impressed by the vapor production she demonstrated. [Of course, she really didn't take much of a draw.]

But she didn't really talk about the batteries, other than they do not have the rubberized finish of the Bloog or VOLT. The mAh information on the DigitalCiggz website can't be correct. It claims 280 mAh for the "short" batteries. That's the standard mAh for the regular length Kr8s. The standard mAh for the short Kr8s is 180 mAh. The Bloog and VOLT are 320 mAh for 78 mm size and 220 mAh for 65 mm.

I am left with the impression that the DigitalCiggz cartomizers are similar, but the batteries are the old fashioned type.

From my using and logging data between the cartomizers and battery in the DigitalCiggz KR808D-1 Smart PCC Kit and the SmokelessImage Volt, performance-wise the two are identical.

But I would advise a newbie or someone not familiar with these new 808 kits to get the SmokelessImage Volt. The batteries and cartomizers they sell are perfectly matched, it's the only thing they sell, and the replacement cartomizers and batteries are all exactly the same. There's no guesswork. A first time user doesn't have to know anything about thread numbering, mAh, ohms, or anything about "old 808 style" versus "new 808 style" or any who knows what style still lingering on vendor's websites.

Pricewise:

The SmoklessImage Volt Smart PCC Kit is $64.95 + $2.95 for shipping and has 2 batteries and 5 cartomizers (you pick the flavor and strength), which comes out to $67.50 Personally, I think a newbie needs at least 2 batteries and 5 cartomizers to start with.

The DigitalCiggz Smart PCC Kit is $40 +$5.50 for shipping and has 1 battery and 3 cartomizers (you do not get to pick the flavor or strength). If you add to the DigitalCiggz kit to make it as close as the same in included parts as the Volt kit, first of all you'd have to know what to look for on their website, and add a battery $11.99, add a pack of cartomizers $7.00, these cartomizers are empty so you would have to buy e-liquid to fill them $6.95/10ml which comes out to $71.44

But if a newbie doesn't want or need a pcc to start out with, SmokelessImage has their 2 batteries, 5 cartomizers, and wall charger plus USB charger for $44.95 + 2.95 shipping, which is $47.50 <-- That's the one I'd point newbies to.

Opinions used to be .02 but now they are a nickel because of the economy and inflation.

I think most shortie KR808D-1's out there now are running 220mah.
Even some new 510's are rated at that.

To me, Volt has been out of stock quite often and is a start up company. It thus makes me lean towards Bloog, but in reality the KR808D-1's are pretty much the same across the board , with a few exceptions and options (like rubber coatings, auto/manual, etc).
Cost overall is a nonsense issue since the cost of smoking cigs is double at a maximum. Equipment is paid off in 1 to 3 weeks and then cartomizers even prefilled are 1/2 the cost of smoking. THEN if you refill or fill your own, you are down to an equivalent ~$.30c a pack compared to $6.00+ here.
Equipment cost then becomes a non issue by the Nth degree.

Whether or not all 808 kits on shelves now is the same as the Volt or Maxxfusion is what I'm testing right now. What I've found so far is troublesome, and I think doubly-troublesome for a newbie. Some things are the same, some are not, but on the website you cannot tell. Plus vendors' websites are typically crammed full of all sorts of kits, and a newbie isn't going to know what 510, 808, 901, 4081, etc, etc is, let alone the confusing terms of atomizer, cartridge, cartomizer, low res, standard res, etc.

For a newbie, if you go buy anything from SmokelessImage, it's going to work with anything else you buy from SmokelessImage. It will give you a chance to know if you're going to lay down your cigarettes once and for all, quickly and painlessly. Afterwards, you can breathe easy (literally!) when there's all the time in the world to look at what new and different vaping toys there are to try. Opinions are like bellybuttons (I cleaned that up, lol), everybody's got one.

The bottom line is just to go ahead and pull that trigger to try vaping and get off the analogs, as quickly as possible.

I'm really not sure one should point a new vaper to Bloog because of better "stock issues" than any other vendor.............

I cannot speak from experience, but from what has been posted here (ECF) about "out of stock" issues with Volt, even on basic equipment. If that's cleaned up, great.
Likewise I've personally ran into "out of stock" on Bloog Maxfusion blank carto's, but that' minor.

Both make a compatible and similar product, as does V2 and a number of other vendors. It's not always about cost, but consistency to me is more important for someone new to the game.

To a point, we are on the same page.
Where new vapers run into issues is frustration with product that doesn't meet their personal need or issues getting stock and falling back into cigs.
Finding a consistent supplier isn't a race. It must be stressed to not just give up because (say ) a 401 isn't meeting their needs, or their prefilled cartomizers taste like soap.
It's good ECF is here, but I must say, to the new person this site is overwhelming. Terminology is many times abbreviated and there is a prejudice against cig sized unite here.
When I sold at a kiosk, we had an incredible success rate getting folks off cigs. Reason? Personal interaction and working with them on issues. I would venture to say we well doubled the national average of those who stayed off analogs (another unknown term to new vapers).
Internet sales can be a nightmare.
I can't say there is a easy answer or I know the entire problem, but this is not a race. It's a transition that needs to be made, and as painless as possible.

I totally agree with you. Support is key. And I'm fed up with fanboys who think every e-cig should be super-sized, they should call themselves Foggers not Vapers. A newbie coming here to choose an e-cig in order to stop smoking is drowned, TMI.

SmokelessImage isn't "out of stock" a whole lot. They sent kits to seemingly every youtube reviewer all at once, got a ton of good reviews, so they simply sold out really fast. Then was yet another chinese holiday so all vendor's shipping suffered for a couple of weeks, and now everything's in stock again. Plus they have new longer batteries now and more new prefilled cartomizers and are coming out with even more new stuff. Their official thread here at ecf is hugely active and someone from SI is nearly always right there on it. Plus, SI has an interactive chat on their webpage with a living human from right there in Ohio, not from a foreign land.... so I think their support is very key to them.

I have no trouble at all pointing folks to SmokelessImage. Just wish I made money off of the sales, lol.

And SI is up front about any issues that come up on their thread. I love that they offer First Class shipping too, and they are constantly manning their online chat help on their site.

Man I'm glad I saw this thread! I live very near where bloog is located and was always wondering why their shipping was so high (I think it went up recently too). Buying the same cartoz from smoklessimage would save me $10 even with out of state shipping. If they are that similar, I might need to switch since $10 adds up thanks to my love of that 555 :D
