hey all,

I have about a half dozen ego-C batteries..... haven't grown up to a Provari yet...... but probably soon enough...

anyways, most of my batteries, charged fully or not, when they are on the constant voltage setting....... show 3.9 volts.........

(ego-C batteries have two settings........ one starts at a higher voltage that drops as it gets used, the other setting keeps the battery at a constant setting.......... I keep mine at the constant setting.......... )

4 out of 5 of my batteries show 3.9 volts..........

I have one dud that doesn't last as long as the others showing a charge of 3.4 volts............

I just bought a new one, and when I got it home, it is showing about 3.5 volts........... haven't had it long enough to determine if it has a shortened life, but........

does this mean it's going to have a shorter life than my other ones........?

or that it's been used?

or that.... I SHOULD TAKE IT BACK AND BRING MY VOLTAGE METER WITH ME, and buy one with higher voltage???

what do you think? why the difference?

thank you,

g

I thought ego-c's were 3.3v on constant mode and up to 4.2v on "variable" mode. At least that's what mine is (this). Maybe you just got a dud? One thing I could suggest is to get an ego twist or something similar since you'll have more control over your vape without moving up into the massive world of mods. Don't get me wrong though, ego-c's are great, I have the passthrough version (the one I linked to above) and I would always leave it in variable mode plugged into my computer whenever I was at home so I could leave my other 2 ego twists charged up and ready for whenever I left the house. Since it was always plugged in, it was always fully charged at around 4-4.2 volts. My boss has it now though, since I've upgraded to a Vamo. I'm going on a tangent here, sorry. If it's acting strange you should bring it back. They'll probably swap it for you. Your store might just carry crappy clones though. Get a twist or a spinner battery!

hey there, happy Victoria day!

you're totally right about the 3.3 volts... but I've been measuring and that's not the case at all... maybe the 3.3 is just a minimum....?

re the pass through.......... I will be ordering one of those this week......... I spend a lot of time at my desk late and night... it would come in handy........

hey, how do you like the vamo? (v3?) is it my next step? I was leaning provari so I can get a cool signature...lol

Did you charge the new one to full, a lot of batteries come not 100% charged, its better to store them around 80% for shipping etc. I get 3.8 with my meter on any good charged ego non vv

If you want a Provari and can afford it, its a great mod. If you want to save money id probably look at an MVP over a Vamo for a budget mod, or even a small step up to a DNA 20 clone they are around $60~ Unless you hate box mods

Skip the V3. The V2 or V5 would the better choice IMO. I own 2-V2 (Al, SS), V3 SS, V5 SS. Wifes V3 tank sections are not real sturdy. It works OK but for how long IDK.

What are you using to measure the voltage on these? I thought it was difficult or not even possible to measure a PWM circuit?

Maybe they are previously used if they're so dysfunctional. Joyetech makes great batteriesl. I have 2yrs on a couple Upgrades and they function perfectly.

That's a good point.
My multimeter certainly does read a voltage on my pwm mods, but I don't presume it to be a realistic measurement.

the op should do the measurement on the other setting where it starts high and drops with usage; that would be the unregulated setting.

I have a Vamo V5. Works great, looks great, is both vv and vw (unlike the Provari). I like it a lot and it's really inexpensive. I'd recommend it.

I had about 6 ego type batteries last year for a few months.
Then they all started to go bad on me.

That's when I made the switch to a tube mod with 18650 batteries..

And pretty soon I can see myself making an adaptor to fit like a 18650 battery in a tube mod, and connect via wire to a dc volt adapter.

well, i'm pretty sure the volt meter is meant for this........... but even if it's not..........
it consistently shows a flashing range of 3.85 to 3.95 for my 6 batteries, and 3.4 to 3.5 for this new one........

(flashes a range......... like an oscilloscope perhaps? runs through a range of numbers continuously)

so even in error, there is a method to the madness.........

i'm going to store today to return it........... if they come up with any creative excuse, i'll post it

thanks

so....... isn't that funny............
I read someplace that ego-c and ego-t were the same battery............
but went to the store today to replace that new battery........ and we tested a whole bunch of batteries........
all the ego-c batteries showed about 3.3-3.4 volts in fixed mode, whereas all of the ego-t batteries showed 3.8 to 3.9 in fixed mode...
....but the batteries looked identical..........?!

so..... I got one of the ego-t batteries....... I figure half a volt makes a difference in wattage enough.........

maybe they just want to force me to go to a mod to get a decent voltage / wattage.... lol

I've read something like that before; that the older batteries used to be about 3.3 volts and the newer batteries are about 3.7 volts.

Too bad you haven't checked the voltages in non-fixed mode.

voltages in variable mode were both in the 4 plus volt range, but the 3.4 volt one was still lower..........

I didn't find a whole lot of difference vaping 3.9 vs 3.4 volts............. but I did find a difference in how long I could vape

don't know why, don't really care anymore..... but I said take it back and they did.......... they probably know the true story...

they always do.....

happy ending just the same

thanks for all the inputs
