In the immediate aftermath, virtually every manufacturer took inspiration from the DRAG X and DRAG S, continuing this concept of circular cartridge mods to varying degrees. Today, with the revamped DRAG S3 and DRAG X3, VOOPOO continues this leading tradition by further enhancing design, features, and performance. Both devices share a unified form factor but are designed for distinct users. The DRAG S3 with its dedicated MTL cartridge offers a maximum output of 60W and, with a powerful built-in battery, is truly unsurpassed for MTL users seeking greater compactness but also long battery life. Its counterpart, the DRAG X3 with its dedicated DTL cartridge, is perfect for cloud chasers, offering a maximum output of 80W and supporting an external battery (18650 or 21700). Both devices are fully compatible with the PnP X platform, which offers multiple resistance options with two different, specific cartridges to fully satisfy both MTL and DTL vaping needs. The 5V/2A Type-C charging port is located at the bottom of the front panel. During charging, an animated display activates, allowing you to accurately view both the remaining time and the charge percentage (%). The mod features a remarkably large 3,000mAh built-in battery that doesn't compromise handling or weight. During daily use, users will surely appreciate the Drag S3's remarkable ergonomics and balanced weight; its thoughtful design fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. Interestingly, the DRAG S3 has a 25% increase in power reserve compared to the previous DRAG S2, without significantly impacting the overall dimensions of the device.

► VOOPOO DRAG S3 POD KIT; Elegant Design:
The base has a semicircular shape covered in soft silicone to ensure quiet operation when placed on surfaces. The silicone grip also keeps the device stable in an upright position, even while charging.

I received the Spray Black version of the Drag S3 for this review. This all-in-one kit features a sturdy zinc alloy frame, with leatherette trim covering the sides and handle. The surface texture provides pleasant tactile feedback. On the back, the DRAG S3 logo is heat-embossed into the leather and complemented by attractive side stitching. The grip is comfortable and convenient.

► VOOPOO DRAG S3 POD KIT; Front Panel and Operation Guide:
The Drag S3 features a vibrant 0.96-inch color screen that clearly displays vaping data and offers a variety of graphic themes. The animation can also be turned on or off. Below the display are the Up and Down adjustment buttons, clearly marked with directional arrows. To turn the device on and off, press the Fire button five times. Accessing the menu requires five clicks, and navigating within it requires the "Up" and "Down" buttons. Smart mode automatically selects the ideal wattage to prevent coil burnout. RBA mode allows the user to freely adjust the wattage manually from 5 to 60W in 1W increments. Eco mode optimizes battery life, extending the device's usage time. The Fire button, featuring the "Everest Lab" logo and wording, is generously sized and round. The button protrudes just enough and is convex toward the center, making it easy to detect, as well as precise and comfortable to press. The key is operated by a capacitive touch-activated lock/unlock system that is similar to a smartphone's touchscreen. The DRAG S3's capacitive unlock sensor only responds to contact with human skin and not to objects such as keys or cloth. In capacitive lock mode, a light touch of your finger unlocks the device, and the device automatically locks upon release, effectively preventing accidental activation when placed in your pocket. The DRAG S3 supports a total of three lock/unlock methods: in addition to capacitive unlock, it also offers button unlock/lock, making the mod suitable for different usage scenarios. The DRAG S3's chipset supports all the major safety features such as: Time-out Protection, Over-temperature Protection, Over-charge Protection, Low Battery Protection, Output Over-current Protection, and Short Circuit Protection. *Consumers will likely be able to access the latest software update on the official VOOPOO website, in which case the specific USB Type-C cable that comes with the product is required. The side of the Type-C cable marked "▲" must face down. Keep the device fully charged for this operation.

The top side inside the compartment features two gold-plated pins and a metal base that serves as a base for the cartridge to ensure proper magnetic contact.

► VOOPOO DRAG S3 POD KIT; 5ml PnP X MTL Cartridge:
The Drag S3 and Drag X3 come with specific, interchangeable cartridges on both mods. Both cartridges can hold up to 5ml of e-liquid and can be refilled through a side hole protected by the classic silicone rubber. The standard cartridge for DRAG X3 (Optional) is called PnP X DTL for "global" vaping and is equipped with a replaceable 810 drip tip and two large airflow adjustment slots. It is recommended to choose e-liquid with 50%-70% VG, whose nicotine content does not exceed 10mg/ml. The standard cartridge for Drag S3 (Included) is called PnP X MTL and is equipped with a replaceable 510 drip tip. Airflow regulation is done by rotating the two opposing slots which in turn contain 3 holes on each side, you can precisely select 1, 2, 3 holes, no holes, or a small part of a hole, this allows you to obtain an airflow that ranges from restricted (MTL) to moderately open (RDL). The PnP X platform coils are designed for bottom insertion into the PnP X cartridge. The bottom of the coil will align with the bottom of the pod without exposing the air passages, thus eliminating the possibility of leaks or condensation. According to VooPoo, the PnP X coils fully meet vapers' expectations, theoretically allowing for more than 100ml of e-liquid before needing to be replaced.

► VOOPOO DRAG S3 POD KIT; PnP X MTL 2/5ml Disposable Refillable Cartridge:
VooPoo sent me this disposable refillable cartridge with a built-in 1.0Ω coil, which I'm very happy to try. I don't have much information about it or the materials used for the coil at this time; I only know that another disposable cartridge with a built-in 0.8Ω coil will be available. The PnP X MTL 2/5ml Disposable is made of dark PCTG material that doesn't affect internal visibility of the remaining e-liquid level. This cartridge is specifically designed for MTL vaping. The drip tip is non-replaceable, but the external chamber is covered with black silicone rubber that's quite comfortable for the lips. Refilling is conveniently done at the top of the cartridge through a hole covered by the classic silicone cap. For airflow, this PnP X MTL 2/5ml disposable has two small, opposing, calibrated holes (not adjustable). The Smart 12W function selects the best power. This is a vaporizer with excellent heat/vapor, emission, and flavor performance. The PnP X MTL 2/5ml Disposable could be a really interesting choice for those who use tobacco or creamy e-liquids, with which I think it pairs very well. The large 3,000mAh battery, when used with the PnP X 12W disposable cartridge, allows for extremely long and worry-free vaping, minimizing maintenance.

In addition to the PnP X MTL cartridge included in the kit, you can choose from a wide range of PnP cartridges and coils to suit your vaping style and all other vaping styles.

► VOOPOO DRAG S3 POD KIT; Final conclusions:
I really liked both of the PnP coils included in the kit. The 0.80Ω is perfect for both a tight and aggressive MTL style, depending on the airflow settings. This combination delivers nicotine very well, offering a substantial and satisfying throat hit. However, my favorite is the 0.60Ω PnP X Coil. With the Smart function activated, the DRAG S3's Gene chip automatically selects the optimal wattage of 20W for this coil. Of course, you can lower the wattage or increase it up to a suggested limit of 23W. The mesh's extraordinary responsiveness allows for satisfying use even at very low wattage settings, but the recommended 20W seems to be the perfect balance between performance and the 3,000Ah battery life. The MTL drip tip installed on the included cartridge does the job admirably. RDL enthusiasts can open all the airflow holes, achieving dense clouds of vapor without losing any flavor. Vapers can also restrict the airflow to the lowest settings, even when fully closed, and will always get a smooth, clean draw without any spitting. RDL and MTL performance are therefore very satisfying, with a good throat hit. The flavor is truly robust and concentrated compared to other similar coil types I normally use. The DRAG S3 POD is an absolutely beautiful kit, with lively, fun, and colorful animated and background interactions. Furthermore, the mod is well-assembled, flawless, and the sturdy frame is beautifully covered with decorative material. The chip ensures capacitive control of the Fire button lock/unlock that never misses a beat, with strong and stable delivery right up to the last puff. Furthermore, recharge times are fast, minimizing downtime. After inventing this type of device, VOOPOO successfully reaffirms its undisputed superiority in the field of high-performance pod mods.
