Turns out that when you are at a Wifi spot that your information can be intercepted.
Also you can be tracked on the Internet and your identity known. If that's important to you.
I recently signed up for two VPN Programs
The first was Trust Zone. They gave me a free 1gb tryout.
Well like a fool I didn't bother to do a speed test. After I found it worked
and paid $15.00 for 3 months, I noticed slow download. I went to Oomla Speed test and found that my throughput was only 1mb download instead of the 20mb my FIOS provides.
Then I did a little more searching and found Private Internet Access, it had a whole bunch of endorsements at the bottom from known companies. So I gave it a shot and signed up for 1 month. Darned if my throughput through the VPN was about the same up and down as my ISP. So I immediately upgraded for a year of service.
They give you 5 licenses and it's only $39.95 per month, they support everything.
Apple,MS,Android, Chrome, IOS linux. I can't think of a platform they don't support.
I've installed on my home computer, my office Computer and My Cel Phone.
All installs were flawless.
Then I installed it on my daughters apple phone and Apple Computer because she has had her CC information stolen. She's away at college and everything is wireless. She did a speed test and said that the VPN is faster then the regular connection. I looked it up and some information applied that some VPN use compression which can speed information flow
So anyway for only $39.95 per year you can save yourself a lot of trouble.
I did run into one glitch, my email at work is IMAP client based[on the computer] the program wouldn't let me send. I looked it up in tech support and they said that because it's vpn they want to avoid spammers. So you have to contact them and ask them to white list your email provider. I thought oh no this is going to take days and a bunch of hassle. Believe it or not I sent the info and request to them and within 2 hours they replied back with approval and instructions. Phenomenal service.
By the way,no referral codes here, just want to make other members aware of VPN and that there is a very good company that applies it.
Note: one very impressive feature of the cellular VPN is that they allow you to list application that you want not to run through the VPN. So for example if you had a problem with your chrome browser, you can temporarily or permanently bypass the protections.
